The people from the staff were nice and attentive. But unfortunately the place needs a little more work done to it, The room was not the same ( Deluxe private ensuite) as shown on the web page, it did not have a window and it smelled of dump concrete. The room was located next to the communal toilet and it did not help the smell..... Just not what I expected from seeing the hostels web page.
Quite a standard hostel. Location is good, just inbetween Gethsemani and the old town. I also liked the little balcony. The doorms are quite small and the bathrooms ok.
It's got air conditioning and is like any other hostel in that way. But the common area isn't super inviting and therefore isn't super conducive to meeting new people.
Next doors are 2 noisy nightclubs, during the weekend. Kitchen poor equipped; breakfast is a toast, a fried egg, half banana and a cup of coffee. The best accomodation is the 6 bed dorm with bathroom; the other guests use (and wait) 2 bathrooms. The manager switch off, unpolitely, the conditioning air during the hot day; it's possible to use it only during the night!!!!!
We stayed here in February. To begin with the directions were shocking, we got completely lost following them, the bathrooms were always flooded/wet and so warm. The A/C wasn't turned on in the dorms until 8pm and turned off at 11am I think, Cartagena is hot as hell! Kitchen is ok and the breakfast was nice.
Most of the staff were volunteers. Good to go with on their day off and explore the city. Breakfast good. Small locker downstairs for valuables.

Don't book on Fri/Sat night, as there's a club right right beneath the hostel, so unless you like extremely heavy bass to rock you to sleep this is your place otherwise, there's better value for your $$
Bearly adequate. Staff were pleasant but hostel cramped and shabby throughout. Freezer needed de-frosting, terrace table was dirty throughout my stay. The bedroom door scraped the floor thus noisy when opened, bad if you were sleeping. In my opinion, the electrical wiring was dangerous. The air conditioning unit socket was hanging from the wall. Cabling in the bathroom should at least have been fully clipped to the wall (but wasn´'t) and should have been concealed. I won't be back.
