More of a b&b than a hostel, no kitchen facilities, not even a fridge. bathrooms are awesome, but not nearly enough, longest wait for toilet in any of our travels. Common area pretty sterile. Our air con shut off at 11pm each night, making a very hot dorm. Location excellent. No signs at all so check your map carefully before arriving (look for castello fashion line on door buzzer). Also the spa next door is closed permanently :(

I had a lovely time at Il Castello in Bologna! The location is right in the city center and the staff was very nice and helpful. I would recommend the hostel to anyone, students, lonely travellers, groups or couples. Thanks to the other reviews it was easy to find the hostel. When you come from the central station you just have to walk the Via Galliera till the end and keep on walking into the Via Porta di Castello. Then turn right and the hostel is right at the right side (Fahion line)!

You've got a bed in a good situated place in Bologna for a fair price! Breakfast is good for Italian standard and the owner and the working girls are very kind. But you don't have cooking facilities at all and you have to pay 10€ a night for parking. Good hostel

The place is clean and the staff friendly. Not hard to find. Not completely clear where to ring the bell entering the building. Would recommend to stay here.

It was a really nice place and fairly well located (about a fifteen minute walk from the city centre). Matteu (who runs the place) was very friendly and polite, and the facilities were all very good. However, it should be noted that this is a house not a hostel, so there is very little hostel atmosphere, and the wifi couldn't reach my room.

Really nice hostel, clean, friendly staff, big cuboard with lock, good showers, right in the centre. Not much of a hostel vibe, but perfect for a stop over. Only complaint that I didn't get much sleep as the walls are like paper and somehow when the people returned gone midnight in the room next door to us it sounded as if they were in our room shouting their conversation. Out in corridor you couldn't hear anything so I'm sure everybody else slept fine.

The is just perfect, right next to the main square. The hostel is lovely, with lockers for everyone and amazing showers. It was very clean and comfortable. I met a lot of other travelers there. But the high point may be the staff, they are all very nice and willing to help people.

This is a great place to get away from the tourists of Florence and Rome and just chill by the pool and take nice day trips to smaller towns in Tuscany. It really feels like a home away from home and an excellent chance to experience soething a bit different on your Italian adventure. Don't miss the sunset at the top of the old town. Enjoy!

Good hostel in a great location, though a bit tricky to find. Only one negative; the wifi is terrible. But I guess when you're travelling internet shouldn't be a key issue

No hostel atmosphere. So if you are travelling by yourself. Not the best place.

A wonderful hostel, really new and clean. Every guest has a big locker in the room. The staff was very friendly and nice.

Don't be misled, this place is not in a "Castello" (castle). Also be forewarned that they charge an extra 5 euros for bags left past 2pm (first time I had seen that kind of charge), and when I went back to retrieve them, they weren't even locked or secured anywhere - instead just hanging out in the lobby. Lastly, any checkin after 7pm results in another 10 euro charge. They really nickel and dime you here. The facilities were fine and the staff did what they could with what they have.

Very close to all monuments and pubs of the city

This place was a bit up and down for me. The location was excellent! Very central in bologna, the price wasn't too bad, facilities really clean and excellent security. Only downfalls was lack of a proper common area which resulted in the atmosphere being a bit flat and the breakfast (which was included) was rather basic and there wasn't much of it, so we left sort of hungry.

Hard to meet other people but the beds are super comfortable and bathrooms are very clean. WiFi was difficult to connect. located right in the centre of Bologna

Really enjoyed my stay here. Was in a great location, just a few minutes walk from piazza maggiore. Was clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
