What I liked: - central location only minutes away from Piazza Maggiore and a 15 minute walk from the central station - friendly and helpful staff - clean facilities What I didn't like so much: - the single room was very small - lack of atmosphere Still, good value for money for a one night stay.

The staff were really welcoming and friendly, the place spotless and it's in a great location!

Firstly, this place is neither a BnB nor fits the criteria of a hostel. It's a small apartment with 10 rooms and a tiny communal area with TV and kitchen and 2 shared bathrooms/toilet amongst 10 X 4 inhabitants. I absolutely regretted staying there as the place is noisy both inside and outside. So only good to stay if you are really short as neither would you have any sleep and be prepared to queue up for the bathroom/ toilet. There is no reception do if you are checking in after 7, nightmare.

your rudeness, arrogance and ignorance are world-leading. if hotels had everyday customers like you should quit. you knew very well that our check-in is normally open until 19, and after by appointment. In fact you booked your arrival at 4 pm, then instead arrived at 2 am! your behavior with us and with all the staff was the utmost rudeness possible. you spent all day to disturb us and the customers with your screams and your whims as spoiled little girl, even though you are much older

No atmosphere whatsoever, not a great place to meet people as a solo traveler. Beds were comfy but the AC was terrible and was super hot and stuffy in room. Probably wouldn't stay here again if I was solo

Great location near the centre. Breakfast in the morning was very basic, but can be expected in Italy. Good place for a quick drop by.

Good to know that you need to ring the Fasion Line to get into the hostel. The rooms are good with lockers and free towels and the massage showers is beyond for a hostel this price!!! Breakfast could be a bit more since you only get to choose between one piece of toast or a croissant and an apple or a plum. The team is very nice and helpful though. Bathrooms got really dirty overnight.

Great hostel and great facilities!

The directions to get to the hostel where not clear enough. So if you are going search your way in maps in advance.

The II Castello was a wonderful experience. A prime location, (close to the Bus Station, but also the centre of Bologna - more importantly, in close proximity to many Ragu outlets) with extremely helpful staff & breakfast provided. The building is modern inside, but retains its original charm on the exterior.

Good location, only a few minutes to the main square. Good breakfast, however small.. Only a drink, a piece of fruit and a small croissant or toast. Big lookers enough for medium luggage.

It's really difficult to find, some instructions when you book would be awesome . Otherwise it's pretty good although a couch wouldn't go astray

I left this hostel covered in small little bites from the beds! Clean all the blankets and bedding please! But.. Really loved the showers and the free breakfast. The girls working there are all so sweet but the manager guy seems pretty rude. The place is clean and the kitchen is a hangout spot for meeting people but it would be great if there was a couch, and if we could actually use it to cook. I almost killed myself a couple times cuz the ladder and rail aren't screwed into the beds... Yikes.

Three full bathrooms (shower + toilet) can be filled up very quickly in the mornings. If three people decide to shower, then that means everyone else doesn't have a single toilet to use. The set up is efficient but kind of awkward. Instead of a lounge-like common area, everyone sits on bar stools around a large counter. (This is where breakfast is served.) All rooms lead out to this counter, so privacy doesn't feel like it's there. Also, the walls let in all conversations from the next room.

More of a b&b than a hostel, no kitchen facilities, not even a fridge. bathrooms are awesome, but not nearly enough, longest wait for toilet in any of our travels. Common area pretty sterile. Our air con shut off at 11pm each night, making a very hot dorm. Location excellent. No signs at all so check your map carefully before arriving (look for castello fashion line on door buzzer). Also the spa next door is closed permanently :(

I had a lovely time at Il Castello in Bologna! The location is right in the city center and the staff was very nice and helpful. I would recommend the hostel to anyone, students, lonely travellers, groups or couples. Thanks to the other reviews it was easy to find the hostel. When you come from the central station you just have to walk the Via Galliera till the end and keep on walking into the Via Porta di Castello. Then turn right and the hostel is right at the right side (Fahion line)!

You've got a bed in a good situated place in Bologna for a fair price! Breakfast is good for Italian standard and the owner and the working girls are very kind. But you don't have cooking facilities at all and you have to pay 10€ a night for parking. Good hostel

The place is clean and the staff friendly. Not hard to find. Not completely clear where to ring the bell entering the building. Would recommend to stay here.

It was a really nice place and fairly well located (about a fifteen minute walk from the city centre). Matteu (who runs the place) was very friendly and polite, and the facilities were all very good. However, it should be noted that this is a house not a hostel, so there is very little hostel atmosphere, and the wifi couldn't reach my room.

Really nice hostel, clean, friendly staff, big cuboard with lock, good showers, right in the centre. Not much of a hostel vibe, but perfect for a stop over. Only complaint that I didn't get much sleep as the walls are like paper and somehow when the people returned gone midnight in the room next door to us it sounded as if they were in our room shouting their conversation. Out in corridor you couldn't hear anything so I'm sure everybody else slept fine.

The is just perfect, right next to the main square. The hostel is lovely, with lockers for everyone and amazing showers. It was very clean and comfortable. I met a lot of other travelers there. But the high point may be the staff, they are all very nice and willing to help people.
