As a middle aged couple we usually choose hotels but chose Il Ghiro as it describes itself as a guesthouse. And that is exactly what it was. We had a lovely ensuite room looking to Fiesole in the distance and the street below. A rom with lots of character, exposed beams and tastefully de decorated. It was very quiet at all times of the day and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly.

This place is very close to train station and most of the attraction. You can easily reach to the heart of Florence by foot. Paula is excellent and helpful. She explain everything and give us many information for sightseeing. We got free upgrade to a ensuite room. Room and kitchen are tidy and clean. If we go to Florence again we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 5 nights at this nice small hostel and it was absolutly worth it. The room was perfect, big, nice atmosphere and clean, great bathroom inside the room. The kitchen was also ok, not big but working. I only think that there will be more dishes needed, when the hostel is crouded what it wasn´t at this time of year. Paola is nice and helpful and the location is very good, only a 5-minutes-walk away from the duomo and next to train station. Definitly recommend it for cosy, quiet people!

I was very impressed by the quality and staff of the guest house. They were very friendly and helpful and accommodated to us arriving late and let us leave our bags even after we were checked out. The location is great, everything was about a ten minute walk and I always felt very safe.

Overall great, clean, close to the train station, great rooms. The one thing was that it was a little bit of a hassle to actually pay our bill we only saw a staff person once during our 5 nights there but we got it all worked out.

We really liked this place, people are very kind and rooms are big enough compared to other places in Europe. It also has free coffee!

Nice quiet area and personable guesthouse. Staff were friendly and gave good advice. Good cooking facilities. Unfortunately the hot water seemed to have always run out by the time we would have showers. Close to the train station! Good computer access but wifi a bit iffy at times.

The staff was wonderful and so kind. This was my second time in Florence and I hated where I stayed before. Il ghiro was a lovely surprise.

This is a perfect hostel. Il Ghiro means (I quote from its wall) 'the doormouse'. Lewis Carroll himself couldn't imagine a better refuge for that aspect buried inside us all. This is a colourful place to burrow; to snooze; to commune where/when you like; a home away from home; a hideaway that will make your heart ripen. The staff are the icing on its proverbial cherry. They can't do enough and they do so with vivid decorum. Florence will best dazzle in Il Ghiro's capacious grip. GO!

Welcoming staff and an ideal location for seeing the sights. One point worth mentioning is if a notice could be applied to pin boards advising tourists to validate their train tickets. The stations do not show notices and you can walk past the machines easily. On the train from Florence to Pisa most tourists were charged 5 euros each for not validating their tickets.

The staff service was good, and the location was good as well. No other bad impressions, greatly recommended for othertraveller to look for this bed and breakfast. We will stay again if we travel to Florence in nearfuture.
