A great place to stay for real cheap if you don't mind sharing a room with a few other people. Bring a lock for your locker. Everyone was really nice and friendly. Food was a welcomed treat in the mornings. There were other travelers there so finding someone to hang with wasn't impossible and there was usually a story being told. Its location next to a tram-stop made it convenient for not having to drive and park. Would definitely return but we would probably get a private room next time.

The place is OK. Not far from the centre.

Excellent value for the money, awesome staff, but incredibly noisy at night! It's virtually impossible to sleep at night when there are people partying and drinking just outside your room (backyard/courtyard) until 2-3am. Maybe re-locate some of those picnic tables farther away from the rooms?

What an amazing place! Definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. If a good atmosphere is what you are looking for this is the place. Great setup for interaction with people and everyone that works at the hostel is super nice and helpful. Food in the morning was delicious (a bit expensive) but dinners made it worth it. $5 for a huge plate of delicious food big enough to feed 2. The hostel is next to the street car line which was convenient but cabs dont cost much for late nights out

I stayed at the hostel for a week during spring break and it was fantastic! The staff is very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great! Make sure to bring some earplucks as it can get quite noisy during the night.

Good ambiance in a residential very safe neibourghoud a couple of miles from the French Quarter. You can ride the tramway passing in front of hostel each 15 minutes until late at night.

Rooms were clean, well-maintained, and the place was situated in a relatively quiet neighborhood. A lot of the clientele seemed to consist of shady, dirty-hippy type individuals, so keep that in mind if you don't enjoy interacting with this type of person. The hostel is in a relatively convenient spot about a mile from the downtown/Bourbon street area. I definitely recommend taking the streetcar instead of walking as the neighborhood around the hostel isn't that great.

This is my favourite hostel I have ever stayed in just because of the atmosphere and character. It is very good for being social and making friends but both times I have stayed there (for a week each time) people have been very respectful in the rooms and I managed to get a good sleep etc. It has a great outdoor area with a pool and has an awesome cheap hot breakfast every morning till late!

Really nice place to stay. The atomosphere makes it really easy to meet a lot of people. Great location also.

An amazing place to stay. Right in the heart of downtown. Brilliant, social atmosphere. The sleeping quarters perhaps leave a little to be desired, but the communal areas more than make up for it. Lounge, kitchen, large outdoor seating area and a pool! Also, the staff will cook you breakfast and dinner for a small fee.

I expect to self-cater at a hostel but no crockery, no cutlery here. A simple bowl and spoon FFS! Thrift store easily fixes this (repeat as necessary). Labelled, bagged milk gone within 24 hrs, received a shrug from staff and suggestion to hide my milk in the fridge. I have not had this problem at other hostels around the world. Atmosphere and attitude of the hostel needs adjustment - if you create a responsible, considerate envrironment guests take this lead, clean up, don't steal, etc.

India House was an awesome experience. The hostel is set up to be very social, and my friends and I met tons of amazing people while staying here! We shared a 4 person room with a private bath, and I have only a few complaints. The room was cold (there are only 2 small space heaters, so if you are traveling during cold weather bring extra blankets), and if you don't shower before 10am you will be in FREEZING water!! But other then that, we loved it. A great place to explore New Orleans from!

Great staff and services. Heater was not any help when I was there during a cold spell. There were no quilts, only blankets. I liked the people and atmosphere, but the facilities were lacking.

Definitely work on cleaning the bathrooms more frequently throughout the day! Otherwise, it's a decent place to crash for a few nights

I liked the atmosphere and the rooms were nice. It would have been nice to have a table in the bedroom to put some stuff on. Also, the bathrooms were clean some days, and not others. Overall, I would stay at this hostel again.
