This hostel was so much fun. The staff is great, especially the breakfast cooks who single handedly erased our memories of last night's Hurricanes and Jesters. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The blankets were a little thin, but this is not a 5 star hotel so I have no complaints. The atmosphere is great too - there are spontaneous jam sessions, pool, outside and inside seating and the best part - the hostel has its own cat! Location is not great though - not safe part of town

I've been staying in hostels around the world for at least 10 years and I can say that this hostel is the worst!. It´s dirty, noisy, half of the staff is rude and again is VERY dirty, despite the efforts of the cleaning personnel. Unless you want to go back to your freshman sorority unclean untidy house AVOID this hostel!!!

Probably the dirtiest hostel I have ever stayed at! Dirty showers, dirty rooms, kitchen was poorly equipped and the staff were less than helpful! Although it is located next to the tram into the city the area is not safe to walk around day or night. Left 3 days early as felt unsafe and unhappy. Ruined my trip of new Orleans as didn't feel comfortable there in the slightest.

Great atmosphere, amazing people and had a great time. Only problem was there was a leak in the ceiling of the dorm room and when it rained the room flooded.

This place is simple, but awesome. No glitz or glamour. But the people are amazing. Met some lifelong friends here. Area is dangerous. Girl held up at gun point when there. Like a lot of America you can't walk places. Cans are cheap though

There were not enough places to charge our electronic devices.

India House has great atmosphere that is suitable for New Oreleans, but is sufficiently out of town to be quiet. I would have appreciated if they had taken more advantage of this. My one complaint is that there was near constant music (and of an unchanging genre that I do not enjoy) audible in all the communal spaces both indoors and out. I really would have liked for either one or the other to be backgound noise free, idealy both. Especially since New Orleans is such a barrage of the senses.

I loved India House! Good location, friendly staff, and great courtyard and pool area, and for an awesome price. The shower that I used was a little wonky but nothing unmanageable. I was a bit annoyed to see that they don't have enough lockers for all guests, but the dorm rooms are locked so just keep your valuables on you and you're good. Otherwise, I was travelling alone and felt totally safe there. I will definitely stay at India House next time I'm in NOLA!

Best hostel I've stayed at in AGES. Not the cleaniest, but there was so much character and amazing people that I just didn't care. Cannot WAIT to go again. As a single woman traveling alone, I felt absolutely no stress at all

I don't think the cleanliness overall is good enough.

The facilities were pretty dirty. The toilets didn't flush properly - the bathroom smelled like urine and feces. Our blankets were ratty and didn't look very clean. The hosts were pretty nice and so were our fellow guests but overall I thought that it was not a great value for $40 a night - I've stayed in places elsewhere for the same amount and it wasn't nearly as dirty or cold.

Great hostel with awesome outdoor area, really easy to meet people. The hostel has a great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast in the morning, especially on a hangover, also had a great dinner there, really cheap!

One member of staff harassed me and several other females one evening but other than that it was a great stay, bathrooms are a little limited and the queues can be pretty long.

It's kinda dirty and I couldn't sleep well due to people in my room and it's very loud outside in the morning... But I still enjoyed my time in the hostel!

I let them know the coffee was running low and the girl at the desk was very dismissive and made me feel like a burden when I was only trying to help. Other than that, I love that they make the breakfast for you and the atmosphere is awesome! They should consider getting more lockers as I had to scramble to find one, and also consider cleaning the restrooms 2x daily.
