Compared to other hostels in Puno this was not our favourite. It was comfortable and staff were friendly but there were problems with the water supply and there was no sociable area to meet other guests. Note that you need a padlock to lock the door of your room if you stay. When we came back from our island visit we stayed in a cheaper hotel down the road with better facilities.
Aus meinem Bett sind leider in der Nacht Latten aus dem Lattenrost rausgebrochen und in einem winzigen Zimmer standen 4 Stockbetten. Die Mitarbeiter waren aber nett.
We booked a 6 bed dorm and it was a 8 bed. When we arrived we asked why it is not a 6 bed, and they told us that there a 8 beds but only 6 people will sleep in there. That was right for the first night but in the second there were 8 people and the room was really tiny for 8 people....even for 6. So I would not recommend to book the bigger dorm.
Do not book in this hostel. There are better places in Puno. Dorms are TOO crowded – there is not enough space for backpacks. Staff guys are nice, but the owner’s attitude sucks. During my last day, there was only boiling water in the showers! Just imagine; you cannot take a shower unless you like having the skin burnt. Even if I paid less for this problem, I would not come back. Only slept there two nights, but it was the worse hostel during my travel around Peru.
We have stayed in many hostels during our trip to South America and this place definitely features in the bottom 5. When we booked we received an email telling us to watch out for ticket touts selling overpriced island tours, yet within 5 minutes of arriving at the hostel the manager was trying to sell us their own tour with their own inflated prices. This place has no atmosphere and was unfriendly. I definitely recommend staying somewhere else if you can.
A good place to stay (and probably your only option). Conviniently located, it is pretty much a standard place with slow wifi, a not so well maintained but working kitchen and somehow unattentive staff. Its always about money (eg. "have you paid"?). It will do for a night or two to visit the really gorgeous islands!!
