Nice place with a chilled out atmosphere just north of St Pauli, spacious dorms with decent beds, although a bit noisy on the weekends with the club downstairs and drunken passersby etc. Free tea and coffee with a small but fairly well equipped kitchen, big lounge area as well.
I actually did not stay in this hostel, because a friend decided to go to Hamburg after me and there wasn't any bed available anymore. But I called them and asked to cancel the booking and they were very kind and did that straight away. Very good experience.
I wish you would have a better and nicer stuff. Plus, it was the dirtiest hostel I have ever stayed!
good things first: the place is very clean and hygienic. and the location is excellent in the heart of the most popular quarter. the bad things: the staff should not be afraid to talk to the customers when they have questions. customers don't bite! and the laundry times from 15:00 to 22:00 might be reconsidered as well, most tourists want to be out in the afternoon hours.
Loved the area near St Pauli great bars
I had a really nice stay at the instant sleep hostel. It is a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the harbour and 5 minutes until you reach the next subway. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I would definately recommend this hostel.
The staff was EXTREMELY rude. There is only (terrible) wifi in the lobby, not in any of the rooms. The doors to the rooms have to be locked manually (not a key card), and when sharing a room it's impossible to ensure the door will actually be locked. It was pretty far outside the city (15 minute walk to the station, 10 minute train ride) and was not in a great area to be walking around in at night.
I had a great time at the hostel, nice staff, nice kitchen and near to great locations. Perfect for my plans
This hostel was the worst hostel i stayed in on my trip around europe. The staff have zero personality and zero interest in the guests. The hostel is not a backpackers hostel at all, was full of germans only there as they were going out at the weekend. Bar downstairs blasts music until late There is lights on in the corridoor all night, the showers were rough the beds even worse and the lockers poor and bent out of shape. I left early it was so bad
A nice hostel, with friendly people! About the staff I want to say that Philip was really helpfull!! It´s an excellent person! In my next time in Hamburg I´ll stay in Instant Sleep!!
I bit loud, since there is a bar downstairs. Good value for money, nice staff.
it's a nice place in walking distance to everything you need and beds are reasonably prized. problem was, when i returned late at night someone was sleeping in my bed and every other bed and the dorm was completely booked. as there was no staff present at this time i had to spend the night on a sofa in the common area, what was quite ok though. on checkout they apologized for the mistake and offered me a free night for my next stay.
Pretty cheap, and the staff were nice. But this is definitely an old school hostel with the tiny pillows, weird smelling rooms and showers that only stay on for 30 seconds
Excellent hostel, bars and clubs very nearby. Nearest U-Bahn station is 10 minute walk. Bring a padlock if you use the lockers

This was good hostel. It was great that they had a kitchen with free tea a coffee and free coking ingredients provided. Also the cutlery and utensils were well cleaned, which seems to be rare in hostels. There is also a great common area where everyone chills out. Rooms were in good nick too. An all round good value stay.
The street which the hostel is located is kind of bad, but it's just a few minutes walking from the bars, so I believe that has no problem at all. The staff is really greate and helpfull, they work realy hard =)
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the kitchen was excellent, it had lots of dishes and pots and pans and it was very clean. The room that we stayed in got a little warm in the mornings, but nothing unbearable. Everyone staying there also seemed friendly, I felt very safe staying there as well. It was a little out of the way, but the neighborhood it was in was one the locals told us to check out so that made up for it being far away from the city center. Overall excellent place to stay!

Nice staff, good location. Coffee and tee for free in a nice common area. I would come back. But bring your own padlock if you want more security. The hostel doesn't offer it.
Very well located just on the northern edge of bars-and-cafes-neighborhood Schanzenviertel. Big rooms, super staff. Recommended.
