The staff on the day were not very pleasent but maybe it was because it was a Monday Night?? I dont know. The location is ok, not far from the Sternschanze S Bahn. Its not a party area but not totally in the middle of no where. Overall I would give it 5 out of 10. It was a good stay. The best were the beds, firm and comfortable. They have a nice balcony also to have a coffee on in the morning or smoke a cigarette,

Great place to stay! Location is excellent. You're right in the center of everything. The hostel is very individual and the staff friendly and helpfull.

Nice hostel in the bustling Schanzenviertel and very close to St. Pauli (Reeperbahn). Large rooms without bunk beds for a great price.

Still there is a bar above the hostel which doesn't let you sleep on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise the staff is kind, the have a fine common room and you can even use their kithcen.

Security for items is good - lockers provided, bring your own lock - but I was concerned about personal security. First two nights I was in a room by myself (solo female traveler), and keys to rooms were not provided - I had to ask for a key to lock the door during the night, which the female receptionists were understanding about, but when asking for the key from a male receptionist, he was somewhat rude about it and couldn\'t understand why I wanted to lock my door. Other than that, good.

a nice hostel. good kitchen facilities to cook own meals. but above a bar so very very noisy at night with all the music and drunk people singing!! rooms are good as its single beds instead of bunks. bit of a walk from the station though.

Hamburg needs more hostels. The location is definitely not ideal, but Hamburg is BEAUTIFUL! I did however like that they don't have bunk beds here!
