The rooms and beds were clean, it is a nice hostel. Staff were friendly. I do have some bad things to say. The toilet is really weird (you don't have privacy, because the doors only cover half of the openning and they can't be locked. I also missed lock on the toilet door. ANd the other thing is that the water for showering was really really cold at like 9PM. Really cold!
wifi didn't work in the rooms making everyone stuck on their phones in the common area. atmosphere was lacking
One of my favourite places on my trip. The big common room and kitchen meant meeting everyone was really easy. The beds were comfy and the lockers were great. There is a laundry for washing clothes. Great value for money!
Some places seem to be a magnet for grouse people and good times. This is one of those places. Though it's a couple of train stops (or 30 mins walk) from the CBD, you'll struggle to tear yourself away from the local hipster area. There's many reasons why you should stay here, but atmosphere is the key. A great common room, the odd pack of complimentary chips and a few candles to boot. Be sure to stockpile your liquor at Lidl (50m away) - it's so cheap they're almost paying you to drink. Do it.
Instant Sleep is awesome! Great location, the staff are helpful and friendly, the area for eating and socialising is really big and there is a great vibe. I'd definitely reccomend it, well worth the money paid.

Floors were fairly dusty, but the showers were pretty good. There was a good atmosphere in the social area, and the staff were really helpful. Apparently it's above some fancy kebab shop.
A great hostel with a good staff and common area. Strange check in and check out times.
Cheap and in a great location. There didn't seem to be an age limit though so it is possible to have old 50+ people in the dorms which sort of gives it an odd vibe at times. The lockers were sort of an awkward size (like school locker style) so like no ones bags fit. Wouldn't normally be a problem except for the fact that the doors don't lock automatically and people forget leaving it open to everyone.
Very social, great time spent here. Charming hostel with very friendly staff. Open and free athmosphere. Close to supermarket and quite close to metro. I would reccomend this hostel to any social traveller. And there is a sand/beach area right across the road. SO nice! Right there on the street, but it feels far away, like on a beach :) except of caurse, no water :p
Very nice hostel. Near the ubahn and at a walking distance from nightlife spots. Nice enviroment and chill common place. Easy to meet other travellers.
I have very fond memories of my stay at this hostel. It is clean, comfortable. I loved meeting people in the common area. I would stay here again for sure.
Wifi didn't work in the rooms so everyone met in the common area. However due to everyone using their phones, the atmosphere wasn't great. Still good value for money overall. The lockers were a decent size and rooms were clean.
Very nice hostel. Nice staff, we even got free beer from them. Also a nice atmosphere in this hostel. The people who stayed there were also very friendly which is nice. Additionally the facilities were above average. The showers were clean. The security was also fine, you can place your stuff in a locker. The value for money was excellent. You definitely need to stay in this hostel if you go to Hamburg.

One of the best hostels I've been too in 3 weeks of backpacking. So much so that I decided to stay another day. Atmosphere was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Great little kitchen and close to Lidl to buy food and cheap drink. Very easy to walk to St Pauli which has a lot of culture and is worth supporting!
The Hostel is in the north of an area with many bars and 20 minutes walking time away from the party area around the Reeperbahn. A Supermarket is nearby and the S- and U-Bahn reachable within 10 minutes. Rooms etc. are clean and staff is verry friendly. Lockers are in the room or in the hallway and you get a lock at your arrival. There is a small kitchen with everything you need and a good common room with wifi. Remember to bring ear plugs if you're easy to arouse because of the bar downstairs.
The guy at the reception requested me to give them deposit. She said that they accept only ID (passport / driver's license, student card, etc.) As the only ID that I had that time was passport, I had to give it as a deposit. I felt it was VERY dangerous! Next day, I tried to negotiate another person at the reception if it is possible to have my passport during the daytime. She then told me that they also accept 20 euro as a deposit!! I also don't like the safety problem there.
Stayed for two nights, was very pleased overall. Kitchen was excellent along with good fridge storage, lockers were provided free of charge, Wi-Fi was fast (in the common room), and the staff was very friendly. Moreover, this was bar none the best value hostel I could find at the time of my booking - especially since there was no extra cost for linen or bed covers. Highly recommended.

The location of the hostel is perfect because it's very close to the bars in Sternschanzen. Also the rooms were very clean as well the toilet and the shower. At night is difficult to sleep due to two bars downstairs who have the music on until late.
