I was so fortunate to find International House and Ron, the Manager. Ron strives to make all his guests feel as comfortable as possible. My room was clean. My mattress was comfortable. My bathroom had plenty of HOT WATER ALL TIMES OF THE DAY. My bathroom had pretty wallpaper and rocks in small clear glass bowls. The floors were real wood! Ron has these incredible positive saying all over the hostel.

Loved that each bunk bed got their own internet cable and electrical plug....the downside is that the stairs up is narrow so you gotta put extra effort if you have large and heavy luggage. But other than that it's really cozy and the staff is friendly and helpful..would go there again!!

everything about the hostel is perfect, feels like home. however the only comment is the effort needed to brign luggage upstair. easier access to bring luggage upstair would be lovely. nevertheless, i would definitely stay here if i happen to come to DC again :)

I had a very comfortable stay at this hostel. The shower/water pressure/hot water was very good. Things were very comfortable and the staff tries to make a very friendly environment. I would stay here again for sure. And it's in an excellent location!

The friendly owner makes your trip a lot easier, especially when traveling alone. You could find some of the best drifters here that share your piece of mind and values, that you turn your mode of traveling alone to meeting new people that open your horizon.

Great Hostel. Could use an extra bathroom on the bottom floor, but everything else was top notch. Late check in was not a problem, and the convenient Safeway across the street meant saving$$ on food. Metro also just a block away. Excellent location.

The security is great, there are a lot of freebies included with the price so you get a really good deal for your money. They clean everyday so I know it's clean, but I wish the paint and the grouting was updated - it showed a lot of signs of dirt. I'm clearly a germophobe, which put a damper on my otherwise lovely stay here. Final comment: they should add a bathmat/rug for when you get out of the shower. No matter how much you try there's no way not to track water!

I've had such a wonderful experience here at the International House. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure that each guest is comfortable and has everything they need. Ron has been so courteous, and has really made me feel like I have a home here. The hostel location is very accessible to both the green/yellow lines and the red line, and just a short walk away to everything you would ever need (restaurants, grocery stores, bars, shopping) I would definitely recommend this hostel!

Where is the reception? What about beds with stairs and not IKEA stairs fixed to the bed? Bad breakfast ingridients. Sooo untasty.

This is not a big hostel. It's a normal house used for guests. The owner is a very good and humorous person. Location is not bad. There is a subway station near this hostel and you can also walk to the central area where you can visit lots of museums or the Caiptol. At night it is dark around the hostel.

This place felt like home and the owner is a very nice and accommodating man, staying up even an hour or more later than curfew till my flight got in and I caught a ride to the hostel. I would 100% stay here again!
