The reviews rave about Ron. Apparently Ron is away - will he be back? Who knows, the current caretaker, Greg, was odd & prickly with me. The hostel interior looks like it has been crafted by someone (?Ron) who really cares about guests - ie rooms with knick-knacks, books, info, appliances, but with a family with a constantly coughing kid permanently residing next to my room & paper thin walls, the place had an atmosphere less hostel, more children's hospital. Staying elsewhere on return to D.C.

The staff are really supportive of their guests! You get a bunch of free stuff with your stay, like breakfast (bread, cereal, jelly, rice, coffee, and sometimes milk).AND free cable TV and DVDs! Also, the free wifi and international calls are a great perk. Cool apartment, only one stop away from China town, AND really near a "circuity city" bike station, and Safeway grocery store. ATM next to Safeway, which is a 5 min walk away. You should be pretty safe, as there is a police station next door.
