Not a bad place to stay! I didn't find the staff fantastic, but the location was quite well located and in a quiet part of town. As they say, you get what you pay for, and such a low price is worth overlooking whatever faults I may have found.

I just spent one night in this Hostel. I stayed in a 10 bed mixed dorm. The Hostel is cheap and very central, which are the two hardest things to get in NYC (appart from available beds). The kitchen and social room are in the basement and werent to lively. The only thing that really annoyed me was that there is one bathroom (and everything is in there, meaning no sepperat toilet) per dorm. When I woke up, I had to wait over an hour to take a shower, due to waiting.

Pros: Good Location, close to the metro and central park, nice lounge area. Cons: NO WIFI (?????), you cannot bring your backpacks to the room. Only one bathroom per rooom (problem if there are 12 people)

I think this hostel is very nice and enjoyed my stay at it, it´s a good price for what it offers. The only thing that I would suggest, is wi fi, because internet is very necessary when travelling and they only have one computer with internet that it´s not always available.

Friendly staff, clean hostel. Super close to subway and central park. Beautiful houses in the street. If I'd go alone to New York again I'd probably stay here again. Would be great with another shower, but there isn't really room for it I guess.

With only one lock, and free access to anywhere in the hostel, the security is in question, especially while leaving the bag at the open lobby entrance. Big bags are not allowed in the room??? Why? Location is fair, though far from the downtown, but easy access by subway. Poor facilities. Other hostels I have stayed will provide unlimited free internet, but here only 10min and next have to pay. So expensive.

Good: Great location, close to subway, 1 min walk to Central Park, 15 min walk to Metropolitan Museum. Very clean place, friendly staff. Not so good: rooms don't lock, you get the keys from the front door downstairs, but not from the room. There are lockers on the lower level though. Bathroom on the female floor was shared between 2 rooms, I believe 8 people in each room, so it can get pretty crowded. And it is just one toilet/shower. Bottom line: nothing is perfect and it worths the money.

the hostel is very good for money except for the baggage policy that you can't take your bags upsstairs & there are no lockers. that was the most annoying thing for me. otherwise the staff is very friendly & the hostel has a very good atmosphere & i enjoyed alot the tuseday music party , pizza party & jazz night. the place is also very good in the heart of manhatan , you are near to everything you would like to visit.

It was awful, they don't have wi-fi, the building is too old, when you walk on the floor, it makes a huge sound, they ask you to leave the room for cleaning, people are not allowed to bring their luggage upstairs.

it was ok for the money... but there's no wifi, the staff isn't too helpful and the hygiene was questionable (mattress and sheets). some extra lights in the rooms would have been nice since there was only one big light in the room. the worst was though, that you can't take your luggage upstairs. so everytime you need something you have to go down to the lobby and carry your stuff around the hostel...

It's a great bargain considering the location and it's actually not too bad. Sure enough it is inconvenient to have access to your luggage only at certain hours, to have to go up and down the stairs, and to queue for bathroom, but you've been forewarned. Some staff are really friendly and hospitable and make the stay much better. If only there were reading lamps above all the beds it would make coming back to the hostel when people are asleep easier!

My experience with the hostel was not too pleasant. Positive notes are its location and it's not too expensive. Unfortunately the building is very old so you hear everyone on the stairs, there is only one big light in the room and none at the beds and the bathrooms are not very clean. The mattress and sheets I slept on didn't look too clean either. But the most inconvenient fact is that you cannot take your luggage upstairs to your room! You have to leave it in the lobby...

The staff at the front desk weren't very polite on arrival, so that gave a poor first impression. The facilities were poorer than we expected.

The huge lounge and full kitchen has books, tv, couches, and is a great place to chill out and meet fellow travelers.

I was in a top bed with no stairs to get there or off, the staff is not that friendly, not much of a friendly and "get together" environment, no breakfast and you have to pay to store the bag 1$/hour. It is also a long walk from Times Square, and if you do it at night, you won't see a lot of people. Safer to take the subway.
