The staff are really nice and the security is pretty good. There was a nice atmosphere because there was a lounge where everyone could sit and watch tv/read/use their computers. There were also good facilities and printing is free!

Clean hostel and very friendly and helpful staff. Our experience was marred on arrival by a drunk/drugged man lying in the stairwell and another man who burst into our room twice asking for cigarettes. It seemed clear to us that he was looking for open rooms to perhaps steal from. It made us very wary from then on which was a pity. We never saw these men after these initial meetings and there was no rowdiness in the hostel that I could have expected if these characters were staying the night.

Hello and thank you for the fair review. We are very sorry to read about this and we want to apologise for the poor experience. On the rare occasion and with the option to book online people like this can get into any hostel or hotel. They were not in that condition when they arrived and had they been they would not have got in the door. We are a family friendly hostel and we do not tolerate any nonsense. I'm happy to say the reason you did not see these 'guests' again is because they were removed from the hostel that night and where not given a refund (£160). We have donated that money to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, so at least some good came from the experience.

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Very cheap, clean beds, good room mates. Building is old and needs some obvious reno's, but close to what we needed and worth the price.

Hello. We are very sorry to read that you feel our cleanliness needs improving. Its something we work hard at so we are suprised to read this. We always encourage guests to come to reception with any issues and we request any future guests reading to please, please, please come to reception with any issues as its completely pointless waiting over a week after leaving to give the hostel a poor review. We have repaired the faulty locker in your room, but 3 were working and only 3 people were in that room that night, so we presume you used one? We also have a secure luggage storage and a safe at reception for more valuable items. Take care and enjoy your time in the HIghlands

If you need a firm mattress as similar to myself then I think you will struggle in most hostels, aside that excellent! Thanks

We found the bathrooms, kitchens, dorm rooms and stairs to all be of poor cleanliness... underneath my bed (the only place to store my large bag) was dirty and the bathrooms did not appear to be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. The kitchen floor was particularly grubby for morning time. Disruptive behaviour in our dorm during the night. No breakfast. The location is great and the tv room is nice to sit and relax in... as long as there are no loud drunks or odd people lurking in corners.

Hello. We are very sorry your sleep was disturbed by an inconsiderate guest. We did apologise and that guest was removed from the hostel the following morning. We cannot kick people out on the street at 4.30am as per you review on Tripadvisior, we have a duty to care for our guests. We hope you got the refund for the tour your boyfriend did not turn up for; this is not something the hostel has control over as it is a separate business. Our toilets and showers are checked every two hours and we have a notice in all if they are not up to standard during this time to come to reception. During your 3 day stay with us why did you not do this if they were as bad as you claim? We don't advertise breakfast but we have a very cheap food store 20 yards from the hostel. If you are disappointed about breakfast not been included can I just remind you that you only paid £8 a night for your stay. The kitchen floor was grubby one morning as it was raining heavy and it's impossible to be cleaning the floor when it's full with people having breakfast. The rest of the kitchen was and is spotless. The hostel does not have loud drunks or 'odd' people lurking in corners. We hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

The location is excellent as it is just 3 mins from the bus station. And it is especially good for people who are going to take bus early in the morning ( usually becoz of the cheaper bus fare). The bathroom is not enough and i really need to wait for a while to get the shower.

Hello. We have plenty of showers and toilets but most guests seem to queue for the same two while another two across from reception are nearly always free. We have put posters up making guests aware of this.

Outside area (back yard/ ground level roof space) filthy - plastic food debris, rubbish. Health & hygiene issue. Mirror in room cracked -held together with tape, feeble lighting in room. Pillows useless - no support. Rates poorly compared to Youth Hostels. Toilets & stairwells well stocked & tidy.

Hello. The area you mention belongs to the shutdown night club next door. We don't have access to this; however looking at it today it does not have any rubbish on it and is certainly not a health & hygiene issue. Our hostel is kept very clean and it would be good of you to contact Hostelworld to amend your rating. We have now removed the slightly broken mirror and replaced the offending pillow. A quick visit to reception would have cleared up that problem as we really want all of our guests to sleep well. The lighting has a dimmer control and when turned up full the rooms are very bright.

Stayed in Inverness for one night. The hostel's location was excellent - right next to the bus station. The staff was friendly, the kitchen and common areas adequate, and the place clean and quiet. We had one major problem. On the day we checked out the staff kindly held our baggage for the day. However when we showed up that afternoon to collect our things, no one was in the office. It took us over an hour to call and find the manager, all while the hostel was completely empty.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello. Life must be excellent if you consider waiting 20 minutes a major problem. Reception was closed for 25 minutes max and the hostel was not empty, if you recall an off duty member of staff called me as I had mistakenly taken the keys with me when I left for the bank. I've already apologised but I will apologise again. Enjoy the rest of your travels.

Although very close to everything, the area looked a bit shady...entrance on a narrow alley beside a parking garage...the room was a bit stuffy with no plugpoints.

Hello. The hostel is located in an excellent area as is not shady at all, Inverness is a very safe place to visit. The path way you mention is well lit up and monitored by CCTV and the car park is accredited by the Police for being safe and secure; the hostel benefits from this as well. Your room had 4 plug points and an extension cable bringing the total to 7. We encourage all guests to visit reception with any queries.

This small hostel is very nice, and if you go there by car there are many parking around it! The city center is also not far fromt he hostel (10 minutes walking). The kitchen is good. Romms are clean and shower too, only the WC is not wonderful but not so bad! If you want to go in Inverness and don't pay too much is a good destination.

The only bad point is that there is no free park like it says on the description, only from 7p.m. - 7 a.m. Anyway great value for money. Nice place.. Will use it again if I need it.

Hi and thanks for the review. We state in our description that the parking is free overnight ... we even say it in capital letters! However we will update it to show the times which are 7pm to 8am. We also have a very cheap mutil storey car park directly beside our hostel and we have the prices on our description. Take care and we hope to see you again soon.

Not enough facilities per level, toilets door handle broken and showers half working. Doors banging from everywhere and difficulties to fit through the fire doors with a travelling bag.

Hello. We are very sorry to read you were not satisfied with our level of facilities. Some guests do not find all of our bathrooms and toilets but I can assure you we have plenty for our hostel size. We will put small maps and direction on each door to make sure this does not happen again in the future for other guests. Our fire doors once opened are wide enough for two people to fit through at the same time. Take care and enjoy the rest of your travels.
