Hello. Sorry to read that you were disappointed by not getting a breakfast but it's not something we say that we offer on our website, however it is something we will consider doing in the future. We are also sorry to read that you did not have fun at the hostel. We had a lot of fun in our games room that night and the music session went down very well before we headed out on our pub crawl. We will try harder from now on to get all guests involved. Enjoy the rest of your travels :)

The location was good as it is just behind the bus station and a very near walk to the town centre..However, the lockers in the room were in a very bad condition and the shower pressure was bad!! A few of us were forced to take cold showers!! The were only 2 plug points in a 6 bedroom dorm and that made it very difficult to charge our phones and cameras...

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello. We upgraded your group of five to a 6 bed dorm free of charge so your group could all be together and we did not check any other people into that room as we were aware of the faulty locker. Only one was not working and it has now been repaired. We also have a secure luggage storage that is free to use and a safe at reception for more valuable items, also free of charge to use. We can only presume you did not see the other power sockets as that room has four and an extension lead bringing the total to seven which is plenty for a 6 bed dorm. We are very sorry to read that you did not get the showers working correctly. Some guests do struggle with the settings but we will now put instructions up in each shower cubicle so this won't happen in the future. We always encourage guests at check in to come to reception with any queries as we really enjoy putting a smile on people's faces around here and are always ready to help with these little problems … especially Neil & Helen when it comes to any shower issues :) Enjoy the rest of your travels!

I had a great stay at Inverness Tourist Hostel, it deserves to be rated much higher than what it currently is. The staff are fantastic and make you feel at home and part of the group straight away. The whole hostel is bright, clean, and homely with heaps of character. You don't get lost in the crowd. The kitchen is small but has everything that you need and is always nice and clean. Keep up the great work guys! Your doing an amazing job, I'll be back, Thank-you!

Welcoming staff, and good situation in the town, but not the cleanest for Scotland ( as we could go in hostels in Edimbourg (smart city hostel) and Aberdeen (SYHA) very clean!!). Very cheap! and this rocks! Good restaurant there Mustard seed, but book a table before cause it 's full most of the time!

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello. We are very sorry to read that you did not find our hostel the cleanest. We do work hard at keeping the hostel clean and guests usually compliment us on our cleaning standards but we will try even harder when we are full at the weekend like during your stay. Glad you enjoyed our tip on where to eat ... we know all the best places. Enjoy your travels!

This hostel may not be the fanciest in the world, but the staff (hi Helen!) and long term residents more than make up for that. travelling alone I really appreciated being brought into "the group" pretty much straight away . total share house, community vibe and a great location for exploring inverness. highly recommended to social non-fussy travellers.

Booked it for two nights which was too long. Good if you just need a place for the night while waiting for your bus or train, it right by the bus station. I didn´t like the facilities, the water in the shower was far from hot, there was mauld in the shower and dust and cobwebs hanging from the fan on the ceiling. Rooms were basic, but good. Common room and kitchen were good. They should build a proper locker room. I couldn´t have expected more for the money I guess anyway.

Hello. Lots of guests extend their stay with us or come back again so we are sorry to read that you felt two days was too long. The showers you mention have been replaced with brand new units and everything has been given a deep clean and all mould is gone. We don't have a locker room but we do have a secure luggage storage that's free to use. Take Care

The hostel is very close to the train station, which is great for an early departure. However, we heard loud music through our closed window all night - it made it quite hard to sleep. Cleanliness was okay, but we couldn't figure out how to use the sheet we were given - it was like a bag, but it didn't fit around the comforter. Maybe we were supposed to sleep in it? I had never seen anything like it. In the future I would ask.

Hi. Sorry about your sleep being disturbed by the night club close by. I'm happy to say that the club closed for good on the 29th of October so won't disturb any future guests. We are in a very quiet location and guests will always get a good night sleep from now on. Thanks for the positive comment on our cleanliness too, its something we work very hard on around here. And to answer your question, yes you were meant to sleep in the sleep sheet provided :) Enjoy the rest of your travels

The hostel itself is good, no problem in there. But the club right next to it makes it a little bit difficult to sleep. That would be my only objection

Close to the city centre but there was a disco playing loud music right underneath our room. Great kitchen facilities and the toilets and showers were good too, but not that many. The reception closes at 11pm so after that noone can see if people not from the hostel come in, the outside door only need a pin-code and the rooms don't close automaticly so if someone forgets to lock he door anyone can come into the rooms if they have the code for the outside door.

Hi Sorry to hear that the club next door disrupted your stay. It's only open on Fridays and Saturdays and only affects some rooms. Guests who use ear plugs don't have any issues with it. The good news is it will no longer exist from the 29th of October and so won't cause any more problems for current or future guests. Our security is very good and we frequently change the door access code. We're a small hostel in an excellent location, and along with our security cameras, lockers and vigilante staff we never had or have any problems. Enjoy your travels!

Very impressed. Great location, just yards from the bus station - handy after 3 hours on the bus! Could do with a bit of a clean & a decent shower (quite difficult to get right and wasn't the warmest) And, nobody locked the door on the room so potential security issue for those less trusting. But everyone is there for a good time so no worries. Thoroughly recommended. Key points being the price & location. It's advisable to socialise with most of the guests/staff & enjoy yourself "up North"!!

There weren't many showers and toilets for the whole hostel and no actual bathrooms , and the beds were incrdibly creaky. Otherwise fine for just a weekend stay.

Hello. We do have actual bathrooms along with our separate shower cubicles and toilets, so I can only presume you did not see them on your floor and I think you would agree we have enough toilets & showers if you did. We will check the bunks in your room and tighten up any that are creaky. We always advise customers to come to reception with any queries or issues. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels!

Excellent hostel, even free tea and coffee, clean and well kept, shame there weren't more pans and the showers could have had a better flow, for the money it was fantastic. Many thanks

I had a great time at this hostel. All the facilities are great and you couldn't get much better for location. Despite all this, the best thing is the people. The staff and management are friendly and helpful- there's a real community feeling about the place, with a small population of friendly 'long term guests' - everyone was just really nice and really warm. Also, they are all well up for a drink and a laugh. I felt welcomed and at home right away. It was loadsa fun. Recommended.

The overall environment of the hostel is very good,. It is better than what I have seen from the Internet. The staffs are kind. The hostel should open an official Facebook group and I will be the one who like and join this group!

The new hostel team agrees with you and after a busy season parts of the hostel do look a bit tired and why we are replacing our linen, refitting our kitchen, installing a new games room with brand new 43 inch TV, Wii, Playstation, a PC for free internet access, tuning our piano, our guitars and even supplying softer toilet paper!! Hopefully if you pass through again you'll give us a pat on the back for listening and you'll enjoy your stay even more. Take care from the team and safe travels.
