The urn in the kitchen was out of order and there was only one large kettle which had to be put on a hob. One morning someone poured all the remaining boiling water from the kettle down the sink after she had made her hot drink ! So not much evidence of group solidarity there ! For my second morning I went to Morrisons cafe for my breakfast as I didn't want any hassle. I suggest 2 electric kettles are purchased for each time the urn is out of use. Thanks to staff who got me a bottom bunk

Clean rooms, good facilities, location was okay, good value for money. But with its huge size and the somewhat industrial/economic ambience, the hostel isn't very charming/welcoming. Nice for school groups and the like but not suited for backpackers (it's not likely you'll learn to know other people or just have a chat in the dining rooms, the atmosphere just isn't like that)

There is wifi available... but you have to pay :-(

This hostel is a large, purpose-built and somewhat aged establishment. Its location is not the best, far from the center of town. Its atmosphere was atrocious: large empty common rooms, industrial style showers (think metal flooring), gender segregation. This was the only hostel I have ever stayed in that charged for Wifi (and at a ludicrous rate). The whole place had a very institutional feel, what I imagine a prison or psychiatric hospital to be like, generally large, cold and inhuman.

Positive: Room and toilets/showers were clean, staff was friendly, there was a locker in the room and security overall was good. Had a very large kitchen with a lot of equipement Negative: Bed was terribly uncomfortable and noisy, it had no wifi (could purchase for 3 pounds an hour, which was ridiculous) and it was in the middle of a residential area about 2 miles from the city center. Also, it felt like some kind of religious camp or so. Overall was ok,
