Location is great and there is a pool, hammocks and a nice garden to relax. The staff, late afternoon and night, is great (the girl in the morning proved herself kind of snobish or bored, not-in-the-mood). The room was furnished w/ 3-floor bunk beds very high, lockers and no air-condiotioning, 2 fans instead, but it's ok, it is not a hotel. The price is not that good for Brazilians, but I think is worth for those who come from US or EURO currency countries.

If you love cockroaches, mosquitoes, no air conditioning, and unfriendly staff, then this is the place for you. Horrible cramped rooms with no ventilation and a laughable fan in the corner was all that greeted us on arrival, as well as the incredibly rude staff. Seriously this place is a joke, especially for the extortionate prices they charge. It's one saving grace was the location; luckily for them Ipanema is a great district to be in, so stay there, but in literally any other hostel.

Good looking hostel in a great upscale location in Ipanema. Lots of communal space to mingle with fellow travelers during the day by the pool or evenings in the front yard. It would be all good IF it was not for the bathroom in the main building, the only 1 for 5 dorms (30 people). It was not dirty, it was filthy, sticky floor, bin overflowing with toilet paper, etc! Note that when I was there (January) the vast majority of the guests were from Argentina & Chile, with Spanish the main language.

Nice staff who make everyone feel welcome ( but in a sincere way) - Julie was particularly helpful. Having a pool to socialise around makes a big difference- and only place in Rio I didn't get a single mosquito bite. Just make sure you don't get the one room without air con.

Ipanema Beach House has the perfect location, close to the beach with tons of things to do close by. The hostel itself was very clean and maintained everyday by the cleaning staff. The front desk was very helpful in booking tours and advising on things to do. The only slight issue was the temperature difference between the top bunk and the bottom bunk. The people sleeping on the bottom bunks would be freezing and the people on the top bunks would be sweating. So choose your bunk accordingly!

The hostel was in a great location and the female dorm and pool were lovely. The mixed dorms and rooms in the back didn't look as nice, but still decent. The main downside was that some of the staff were unfriendly, but some were also super helpful it just depended who you got! Still a pretty chill place in a great spot.

I think it's the best hostel in Rio !

Best place in Rio

The staff is what made the hostel great. Eduardo and Gabriel made me feel as though inpanema beach house was my home.. The hostel is a very lucky company to have such great, commited, helpful, passionate staff members. Thank you for hiring such a great pair.

Great location but the staff here are not the best. I was ill and was shown very little care or even help with enquiries- very nonchalant attitude. You'd expect this much on humanitarian reasons at least esp as one day I broke down at the desk as I was in so much pain and needed a doctor. Nice pool but attitudes stink.

I spent one night at the Beach House. So I got the bed dorm for 6 mixed. The bunk beds are not by 2 as usual, there are 2 bunk beds of 3. The bedroom was so small that nobody could really move properly in it.. Or put their bags comfortably. There was no curtains at the window. On the first floor, there are 4 bedrooms but only one disgusting bathroom. And if this bathroom. I paid more for this hostel than the other one Ive been at and got way less comfort and service!

Excellent hostel

An overall pleasent experience. We only stayed for one night so we didn't get the best impression of it. But nice and clean, great outdoor area. The staff was okay, not as friendly as many other hostels we stayed at. But there English was great, so that's always something.

Very unorganized and you might end up without a bed.

Fun place and close to the beach.
