Great location and if party vibe is what you want then it's perfect. However for us, a couple in their early 30s is was not ideal. The check in girl was abrupt and rude. Couldn't even manage a hello when we arrived. When I asked for towels to rent she was dismissive and unhelpful and all I wanted was a towel! The evening dinner was cheap but basic. The dorm was clean but had no key and was not locked therefore if was not secure.

People talk this hostel up a lot but it's worth it. It's right on the beach and offers everything from surfing and sand boarding lessons to horse back riding and township tours. The staff make it, they're so welcoming and get involved in everything. Great restaurant & bar which means you see everyone all the time, which makes it feel like a little community. Very easy to meet people. Idea for young travelling alone

It was actually really nice there, i just had to lower the rating- not because of the staff- but because of the guests who where partying (which is good) but then sick was all over the toilets and the facilities... Not nice... The bar area could be friendlier- its very dark there... Otherwise a cool location and friendly staff!

Such a good place to base yourself if you're going to be in J-Bay. Right on the water and the staff are incredible people.

Thank you for making it the best 5 days of my stay in South Africa

One of the best hostels Ive ever stayed in: cosy, good vibe, learned some surfing, great facilities (and showers!) , and amazing value for money ratio.

You really go here for the backpackers atmosphere. Great bar, good place to meet other travelers and the surfing lessons were awesome! But the showers and older dormitories were really dirty. I think they were building new ones so hopefully that will fix the cleanliness problems.

My favorite hostel in SA: best showers at least with good water pressure. Friendly people at reception (and others working trying to come up with things to do). Right on the beach. Also met some cool other travelers! Breakfast would be awesome as grocery store a bit far away... If really allergic to dogs prob better stay elsewhere as there are some dogs around (definitely not in the rooms though).

LOVED this place, wanted to stay here longer. perfect location on the beach. great excursions available... surfing lessons, waterfall cliff jumping, stand up paddling, horse riding... great stuff. great vibe at the bar, awesome people, and great viewww from the balcony. great food from the bar also. only comments: please tell the night guards that the guests in kirra can hear them talking loudly at night. also, maybe you can trim the bushes so the view is even easier to see! :D thank you!
