1st of all we were supposed to be picked up by someone and tjis did not happen. After making our own way there they had our wrong booking. 3 of us had booked into a family room, which did not exist. We were offered a disgusting caravan instead. In the end we got 3 beds in a 12 bed mixed dorm. While in the dorm, one of the other customers had his ipod and wallet stolen as no one was provided with a key for the room and the door was left open. Positives were its location.
First I made a reservation for a 6 beds female dorm and when I got there, there is only one mixed dorm with 16 beds... So the next day they transfer me to the central location in Harare. There was a female dorm with 9 beds in a small space. The location is walking distance from town and Chris, who is in charge of eveything, is a great cook and is always willing to help for anything. This place needs some fixing, and the beds and sheets (do not cover the bed) are terrible.
Great place to stay if you're backpacking in Zim, also the only hostel in Harare as far as I could tell. It is situated in a pleasant, green suburb of Harare about 10 minutes drive from the Centre where you can catch a kombi to pretty much anywhere. Staff was very friendly and accomodating and they also do an excellent full English breakfast :-).
wifi hardly ever worked. 10min walk from shopping mall with cheap groceries, internet cafe, good restaurants. pretty far from anything touristy in Harare - need to take a combi or bike. 12 person dorm is in an old garage of the house. bathroom inside with tub is best one. try to get room in back if want quiet as people seem to come and go with their cars at all hours of night and can hear the gate open/close in front rooms. no maps offered or help booking activities. Wild is Life def recommended
The hostel is so crowded that you have to queue up for everything (to use the toilet, to use the kitchen, to find a seat to eat, etc). Internet is very expensive (5$ for 3h) and it doesn't work at all. Dorm mattresses were old and very uncomfortable. There is no power in the main dorm and no efforts were made to fix it. In the kitchen and in one of the bathrooms light bulbs were not working too. Swimming pool was a swamp. I do not recommend this place.
