Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card on arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

Cancellation / No Show & Reduction in Numbers Policy

If you wish to cancel or change your reservation, we will require advance notice 5 days before the date of your arrival, otherwise, you will be charged the half of the amount due on arrival as the cancellation fee. Cancellations made with 5 days notice or more will not be charged.
NOTE - If you fail to check in as scheduled, we will cancel all your bookings and you will be charged the half of the amount due on arrival.

During your stay, we also require advance notice 5 days before the date when you want to cancel the booking on. As long as you notify us 5 days before, we will refund the fee you have already paid.

Please notice that the hostel is a five-storied building, and there is NO LIFT.

Any cancellations resulting from agreement to these terms and conditions under false pretences will result in loss of deposit.

General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through Hostelworld.com you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by Hostelworld.com and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on Hostelworld.com it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable
  • Hostelworld.com are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

J-Hoppers Kyoto Guest House is a small homely hostel located in a convenient location, 8 minute walk from JR Kyoto station, 2 minute walk from Subway Kujo Station. Everything you need as follows is accessible within 3 minute walk; convenience store, supermarket, 100 yen shop, ATM, post office, izakaya (Japanese bar) and restaurant.

To the bus stop for Kiyomizu-temple, Gion, the downtown area, Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle is 1 minute walk. We sell One day bus pass which makes your sightseeing easier at the front desk.

Each of our staff members will help you with warm hospitality. Please relax and stay as your home away from home. Our custom-made roomy bed is a compilation of knowledge that we acquired from 13 years of managing hostel.

+++Roomy Bunk Bed+++
Equipped with a quite large sized loft bed. Guests sleeping on the top use the loft and unlike ordinary bunk beds, you can keep all your luggage up on the top. Taking the bottom, you can sleep in an independent single bed under the loft. Each bed has a personal bed light, plug outlet and curtain. You can surf on your bed by WiFi. Safe lockers in all dorm rooms.

I think what guests like most about our property is our very friendly, English-speaking staff. We just love chatting with our guests! In fact, we have a dinner party every week.
Toji Temple is just 15 minutes' walk from our hostel and has the highest wooden pagoda in Japan. I personally recommend visiting the Fushimi Inari Shrine. It's an important Shinto shrine in Kyoto and has trails leading into the wooded forest of sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds. At the back of the shrine\'s main grounds is the entrance to the torii gate covered hiking trail, which starts with two dense, parallel rows of gates called Senbon Torii (\"thousands of torii gates\"). The torii gates along the entire trail are donations by individuals and companies.
I'd say we're ideally suited for single travellers and couples aged 16 to 50.

--Reception Hours and Check In Time--
*Our reception is open from 8:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 22:00 (check-in time is from 15:00 to 22:00)
*If you would arrive out of our reception hours, please let us know in advance. We will tell you how to enter the hostel and further information
*Luggage storage is available for FREE even before check-in and after check-out.
*Even before 15:00, you can use all hostel facilities except guest rooms.

Cancellation Policy

This property has a 2 day cancellation policy. Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
