My friend and I were staying for one night in the 17-beds room. No one besides us staying in the room. I guess it wasn't peak season. So we had the entire room for us. Location was OK, not so far to reach the hostel by walking from train station. The guy who attended us was friendly. The room was clean. The bathroom was extremely clean. I noticed the toilet paper and tissue quality are very good. It was thicker than the normal tissue paper.

Trying to get into the hostel was such a hassle! The reception was only open from 2pm and we arrived in chur at 12 so we had to hang around for 2 hours with our luggage. Then when we came back at 2 we had to phone a number to get let in! If you don't have a mobile phone you can't get it. The bathrooms weren't working, the toilets weren't flushing. It was cold and the beds were very uncomfortable. The hostel cost over 40 franks per night per person. I reckon you could find a cheap hotel instead.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear guests First of all I want to apologise that you did not like it at our hostel. But I want to make some things right which you criticized in your review. Our reception opening times are written in our confirmation that everyone gets which books a room/bed at our hostel. I am pretty sure you got this information. You also wrote in your reservation that you will arrive at 2 p.m. So please be fair and don't complain about arriving too early and having to wait because you actually knew that the reception would be closed before 2 p.m. Our check in times are actually from 4 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. (these infos are also in the confirmation that you received) because we are cleaning the rooms until 4 p.m. That's why we hang our phone numbers on the front door so people which arrive earlier can phone us while we are upstairs cleaning the rooms. It really was a special situation on the day that you stayed at our hostel. This winter has been the coldest since 10 years and because of this unfortunately some of our toilets were frozen. I was actually working like crazy on this problem to fix it. And I told all of our guests on this day about the problem (also you) and I did also tell you which toilets were still working. I can just say that we didn't have this problem since we opened the hostel and I hope it will not be as cold like this year in the near future but as you also know we are not able to control the nature. One thing about our prices: Our prices are not higher or lower than those of other hostels in Switzerland. At our hostel we do care a lot about our guests and we are always willing to help. If there is a problem please tell it to us at the reception so we can help you and find a solution for the problem. Best wishes from Chur Manager - Hostel JBN

We only stayed one night. The directions were a little confusing coming out of the train station. Beds were comfortable. Facilities were very very clean. The front desk guy (Marco/Marcus?) was extremely friendly. He stayed late to help me find a train for the next day because our original reservation on the Bernina Express was cancelled due to avalanches. I didn\'t go to the bar, but my fiance did. He said the bartender was extremely chill. Oh, the hostel is in the middle of red light dist.
