By far the worst hostel we have stayed at.You are literally laying on a piece of plywood with a sheet on top. The walls are dividers so you hear everything. Also, the sound from the common area carries right into the rooms until drinking stops at 4 or 5 am.Kitchens have hardly any supplies and bathrooms filthy. Staff barely spoke English. Our beds shook when a big truck would drive by. It is 1hour by train to almost all destinations. Anyone can walk by and steal your bag if stored during the day.

This place is very tiny but it makes it cute. Wifi is ok , it is clean , the staff is pretty nice. At night , it is noisy as most of people don't respect feelings of others guests! That is pity , because it could be very nice place to stay and very quiet as well ;). The staff need to work on that point more seriously ;). It is located at 5 minutes walk from the metro station and 30 minutes from the center by train. Many cheap shops around where you can buy food...

We apparently booked a room type we didn't like, but the staff was very helpful and considerate in getting us a different room which was really nice.

The size of the "beds" was too funny to be astonished about. Put it simply, expect a bed like in a capsule hotel and go there more for the fun of telling the tale than else. After all, Tokyo is famous for the capsule experience and this is cheaper than capsule hotels. I do recommend the place. Space available nonetheless, It is friendly, traveller-oriented, and the staff is great at helping you. Not central, but the subway is very convenient and local eateries are a real bargain.

I highly recommend this hostel! The rooms are quite small, but what do you expect for such a great price? It's not a particularly flash or stylish place but it certainly has character and a great atmosphere. The staff are also fantastic! It is close to the train station and there is a Laundromat 30m away.

There are notes left from happy customers who say how friendly the staff are, but when I got in they gave me the standard run down and then seemed to be hiding for the rest of the time I was there. I was told to talk to the owner if I wanted to know anything other than the standard intro.... There are also notes saying why things are a certain way including for the last person in to lock the door--how do you know if youre last in? I left at 415am and the door was unlocked. Rooms are freezing.

The hostel was very cheap. It took about 30 minutes to get to the heart of the city by train. The rooms and beds were very small, there were only 2 showers in the whole hostel, but everything was clean. The staff was very friendly and answered many questions for us. Overall, it was a good experience.

The hostel was excellent! The space is VERY tight, but it's great value for the price. Everything is neat and tidy. The staff is extremely friendly. The location is nice because it's very close to several stores and restaurants and the walk from the train station isn't that bad. However, the security for the rooms isn't that great because very old multiple-dial combination locks are used. Just don't leave anything too valuable in the rooms and I think everything will be fine!

Cheapest place in Tokyo with really friendly staff. Quite cramped and not fantastically heated. But for a couple of nights on a tight budget a great place to stay.

I am not much for a bunch of luxuries...so coming to JGH was perfect for me. Very friendly, great people and staff. Although things are kind of cramped at times...it is okay!

The staff and the people staying there were all very nice. The beds were really tiny and there is no space at all to move around but then again, you pay very little for it so I could understand.

I stayed at JGH for the weekend before christmas 2012, I chose it because it was cheap, and the location was great. I was only there to sleep so it was ok for me. The staff were amazing, the owner is such a sweet lady. She moved me from a 6 room to a 3 room to a double bed room and then finally to a 2 room bunk lol. However the sleeping areas are TINY, little bunk beds in a closet. only 2 showers in the whole place!!! Some toilets are squat toilets which i dont know how to use properly lol.
