The hostel is in a great area with little restaurants and bars and shops. The hostel itself have a great atmosphere where everyone is friendly and the staff are really helpful as well. The actual accommodations are a little cramped and there isn't much space to move around, practically none actually. But even so it's still a comfortable environment with friendly people.

Rating: "frickin outstanding" on value for money. Located roughly 5 minute walk from Nishi Kawaguchi station which is roughly 30 mins from Tokyo Station - very central when talking Tokyo. If you feel that privacy is of importance, maybe you should choose a different country. ALL houses in Japan have thin walls. Outstanding staff, owner is way too nice to the ppl staying there. The low cleanliness is a result of the ppl staying at the hostel rather than the cleaning itself.

Super one of a kind, very small spaces (as was expected for tokyo and its price). I felt safe and in a chill atmosphere, but techincally if someone tried they would succeed at stealing. Privacy was an issue as a couple: NONE. our "private room" was a tiny space with a paper thin corkboard wall. All beds could hear everyones everything. But for price, deal with it!

The owner and Aja are fantastic. I would recommend though going to a Khaoson 1st, but if they are full JGH is the next best.

While the owner seemed keen to help at all tines, the beds were hard, the spaces very small and the hallways narrow... Not suited for tall or larger Westerners. Also quite a distance from Tokyo.

I informed the owner, Meiko-san, about my late arrival and she noted my arrival. However, there was some miscommunication and they took an hour to sort my location of my bed. The place was tiny but it was never a problem for me as I only sleep there. It's located in Saitama, so it might not be very convenient if you want to travel to southern Tokyo.

Regarding the price of the hostel, the location in great. Tokyo center is 25 min away. Its a bit claustrophobic but the staff anf the atmosphere makes it worth it.

Meiko was an amazing host! The JGH hostel has a really warm and homely feel. It is a very small space, but as the owner says, enjoy it (and it is Tokyo!). It's really easy to get around from JGH and very quick into central Tokyo. There's a good mix of people staying there and it is lovely to feel so at home in a hostel. Meiko has done wonders with the space that she has creating an incredible garden. It is great value for money too! Thanks Meiko, Rosie (Rosemary) and Tom :)

I've stayed at another hostel and it's much better. location is not good so you ended up paying more for transportation.

it is not fair to sell a room which in effect is not a room : no privacy, just fabric dividing guests. If i wanted to share my place which other people I would have been awared of that..

The owner and staff were very nice. It\'s a great place to meet people, but not so nice for a good night\'s sleep. My bunk was smaller than a single bed, and I couldn\'t stretch out my legs completely (I\'m 5\'8\"/171cm). Like most hostels in Tokyo, JGH is about 20 minutes from downtown, and the last trains from Shibuya or Shinjuku leave before 1am, so use caution if you want to stay out later. But there\'s no curfew and it\'s close to Nishikawaguchi station (7-8 minute walk).

Great staff!! Price is sensational for japan!! But the rooms tend to get a little small when you`re a tall fellow!!

The owner, Meiko-Chan is very friendly and helpful. I recommend this place if you don't mind the small space, plus there're plenty of cheap food stalls between the hostel and train station.

Small but lovely hostel, the value for money is probably the best in Tokio.

It is very very small and cramped. I think it has such good reviews because the owner is so nice, but just beware, the dorm is the smallest I have ever encountered on my whole world trip - so small you have to turn sideways to walk between the bunks (which are so low you can't sit up in them). Its far out from the centre and there is no space for your bags.Try googling it for a fairer review than what it has on here. Suspiciously, it is not on the other big review website, but just google it.

Wonderful hostel and extremely nice staff. Very small, but cozy. A bit hidden, so it took a little while. To find, but I am not good at finding things in the first place, so don't take it from me. Its a very quick walk from the metro station. Thanks!!!

Only stayed one night but the place sure is nice. Close to a train station and staff were really friendly. Would stay again if in Tokyo.

A modest hostel with modest amenities. Frankly, it was a lot smaller than I anticipated, but bearable. I was particularly fond of the authentically Japanese styled lay out of the place, which afforded me the chance to experience an aspect of Japanese culture I would not have otherwise. Also, sleeping in the capsule sized beds proved to be a interesting experience as well. I'd say that JGH provides a fair offering for the price paid.
