Had a wonderful time here. Space is very limited, so you get to know your neighbours, but it was actually and advantage since there was no heaters in the house... It would get extremely cold, but the staff would be helpful with extra blankets and such. Only a few toilets and showers so it can get crowded during peak season, I guess, but it was never a problem during the week I stayed. Go there for the Japanese feeling and atmosphere. A truly friendly and nice place.

First week very satisfactory because we were in a four beds dormitory whereas we were only 2. The housekeeper is very nice but the staff can't speak english. It's a shame! The second week was awful since the housekeeper changed our room. I know the price is low but there is small and tiny, we always get a bump on the head. Did I specify there is no heating?! Moreover, the bedroom is just above the living room, it's hard to fall asleep. It's sure we'll never come back.

Don't expect too much! This is one of the cheapest hostels in Tokyo and you get what you pay for. The staff is great though, they're so helpful with all kinds of information. the place is also good for meeting new people (one of the few perks of having no personal space)

There was no privacy as there is no proper walls, so it felt like you were sharing your room with everyone. Next door got to control our light and the heating. You can hear every single person talking. There is a thin shower curtain around the shower which easily moves. However, it was regularly cleaned, the staff were really really friendly and helpful, we asked to move into a better room and they let us. Basically you get what you pay for, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

I loved staying at JGH. One of the most interesting hostels I've stayed at. Mieko (owner) is a lovely lady. Spent a good amount of time in the social area, it's a little box where everyone can hang out and grab a cold drink from the fridge. I didn't mind the journey on the train into Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku etc. Overall, it was a fantastic hostel and a great experience.

The place is far away from subway station (around 20min walk), also it is very small and the night i spent there there was no heating u.u The only good stuff was the staff super friendly and the safe environment (it is a must since you are not provided any locker for your stuff).

Lovely staff. Living conditions somewhat cramped, but that can be expected for the price. The temperature in my bedroom varied from chilly to hot. I enjoyed my stay there.

Mixed feelings about our stay here. It's more of a share-house than a hostel, there was only 1 shower that we were comfortable in showering in and that was separated from the kitchen area by a thin shower curtain. On the other hand the staff and the landlady were always very friendly to us. While it was quite cheap, you don't get much value for money. Extremely thin walls that don't block sound. It was an experience, but wouldn't go again.

The owner is a very sweet woman! The place is rather small, but it isn't too far from central tokyo so I kinda understand why the prices for rooms are a bit high. My only complaint is how cold the rooms would be in the early morning and late night. Also there is poor lighting in the double bedroom rooms.

Decent Hostel with nice staff. A few warnings though, the hostel is very tiny and people are crammed everywhere. The rooms have no privacy- even if you book a private room. The walls are head high and paper thin.

Unfortuntely i stayed just one night but i reall liked the style of JGH, is a bit far from the town so it makes it a perfect place to take a rest and anyway you can easily get there by train. The staff is really friendly and the owner is awesome and speak perfect english, she can help you in anything you need.

Very basic, very small. But Mieko-san who is the owner of the place is very nice and very helpful. Pretty clean. Small space makes people more close so the atmosphere is great. Definitely the cheapest in Tokyo. I went back again before the flight home. Would recommend it for the experience. ^^

JGH Tokyo Hostel is very nice for the price. The building is drafty since it is made in the traditional style of Japanese houses, ie out of paper and wood, so if you are going in winter be prepared to be a little cold. The hostel provides you with a good blanket tho so its not bad just as long as you do not sleep on one of the beds on the floor. The staff is very nice and the hostel is kept clean. A 20-30 min train ride to central tokyo but the most affordable we could find. Japan is expensive.
