It was my first time staying at a mixed dorm, I had some concerns before my stay. The stay at Jalan Jalan Emas eased my concern. I enjoy chatting with fellow backpackers and they sharing of their travel experiences.

I loved it! The place is in the heart of Chinatown, the most important Hindu temple, Mosque and Malaysia's oldest Chinese temple are all in the same street within a 100 meter walk. The house itself used to be a Chinese merchant's home and the guesthouse retained its original character, making it a very unique experience. The place, as well as the owner are very laid back, don't expect entertainment, just chill out. Suggest the private rooms, dorms seem to have lots of mozzies. Great value!

Very nice hostel, only negative comment is that the windows didn't have any mosquito netting and I got bitten quite a lot at night.

Jalan Jalan emas is located in the middle of Malacca historical city, only few minutes walk to dutch square, which is the main tourist attraction in Malacca. Love the humble owner, SAM. He is so helpful and cool. The atmosphere is kinda cool, with a very cool interior. A really full recommendation to stay in Malacca.

Because of the nature of the house, I find the room very hot and suffocated ( I paid RM 28 ), I stayed in a single room in ground floor and find it quite challenging to sleep and stay in such an small and ordinary room. It is not value for money, as later I paid RM 20 and stayed in a air con dorm @ Riverview Guest House and find it excellent. The owner and manager is a nice and helpful person. The bathroom is clean and shower is great. They need to invest on aircon if they want to charge more

Lovely little hostel, the staff were really welcoming, everything was clean and tidy. Dorm was really spacious and the fans by the beds were a great idea, actually vetter than aircon where you end up fighting over the temperature. It was a little noisy at night because the reception/ common room is below the dorm sobering some earplugs if you want to sleep early.

Overall we had a great experience at this guesthouse. The atmosphere was very welcoming and we soon made friends with the other travellers as the hostel runs its dinner club every night. There is a very sociable and open plan feel to the place so is great for single travellers. Due to the open nature of the buildings be prepared for some mosquitoes at night, but nothing worse. We couldn't recommend Jalan Jalan more, and we ended up staying a few extra nights like a lot of people seem to do!

One of the bests places I stayed. The location is great and facilities are good and clean, but the most important there was the atmosphere and staff!!! They would organize night trips to discover the local market food, and once most of the people would join the incursion, we ended up having a great time!!! Thank you so much guys!!!
