A fantastic place to stay, highly recommended. The guy who owns the place is great, very helpful and friendly. Each bed comes with its own fan, so even during the hot nights you are cool. There is a cool little garden to hang out or a small common room if you want to watch movies. Plus free tea and coffee is always good! If you visit Malacca and want to affordable fun hostel to stay, this is the place for you :)

Extreme basic hostel! To me, 80% is way over rated. The owner is really friendly and helpful but facilities are basic and the building is quite old. (Situated in the unesco protected area). There's a muslim mosque just in front of the hostel, so every morning 5 am you'll be waking up by it.

I was happily surprised by the high standards of the hostel for the price paid for a bed in the dorm. Keep up the good work Jalan Jalan.

Really hot room, thousands of mosquitos and a mosquito net with loads of holes in it, in the morning we had the smell of the small restaurant next to the hostel in our room, which was not always a good one, we had windows but you could close them properly; but the location was good, the price ok and the staff friendly

A very unique hostel - old building with fresh atmosphere! I saw the lady staff changed the bed sheet right away after somebody checked out. The dorm is spatious for 10 people and with a big fan for each person, who needs an aircon!

Great place to hang out and chill. Very close to all the sights of Melacca. Super helpful staff and cheap access to bikes. (you're quicker on foot though) Nice atmosphere!

Great location, it was very close to the main attractions. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. There was a computer to use and free tea and coffee. Would recommend.

Best guest works I've stayed in my 7 months of travel. Victor who works there even rushed to the bus stop to give me some stuff that I forgot to pack at checkout time. Overall good experience in jalanjalan n Melaka. Hope to return!

There needs to be somewhere to put your bag other than on the floor by your bed in the dorm room. It would be worth investing in some large lockers instead. Also the stagnant water features produce a habitat for WAY TOO MANY mosquitoes. Please get rid of them so your guests aren't constantly bein eaten alive. If I was downstairs for more than a few moments I always got new mosquito bites despite wearing cream and spray

Very good location (steps away from the night market and a walkable distance from a lot of sights). Our room was clean and the mosquito net was in good condition. The toilets / showers were clean, but there were a lot of mosquitoes in the toilet area, as it is an open space. Maybe a mosquito repellent of some kind would help? Victor was very welcoming and helpful. Def recommended.

Felt like I was sleeping in an orphanage. Also, no air con. But otherwise average hostel. Not very social though

Owner Comment (Hide)
Dear guest, thanks you for your comments. However it's not fair of you to add that there's no air con as the dorm that you stayed in clearly states fan only when you booked it! I would advise you to read your bookings properly in order for you not to be disappointed and also to not give wrong reviews. Also during your stay, the hostel was nearly full with many other friendly guests so I don't understand your comment of "not very social though"?? Remember, it takes 2 hands to clap.

Nice little guesthouse centrally located in China Town and only one street up from the weekend night market. Cheap, clean and cosy. The boss, Victor, is very helpful and friendly. Very good showers (probably the best shower I've had in almost two years). A highly recommended place to stay for your visit to Melaka :)

I can't say enough good things about this place. Best hostel I've been to in Malaysia. Chill place to hang out while seeing the sights in Meraka.

Was a nice place to stay at, was in the dorm, very hot but thats melaka i guess. Big downside was the rat(s) at night, even got bit in my ankle while i was asleep by something. Other then that it looked very nice.

located in the heart of old china town, very convenient. the staff are friendly and helpful, the facility is basic and clean, the room is cozy enough. although it's not yet summer melaka was rather hot, as there's no AC in the hostel I'd not recommend it for summertime stay. all in all, a very nice and affordable hostel!
