Sam's a legend. Ready smile and always helpful. Was out walking with a friend and he passed us by on his bicycle. It was drizzling - and insisted that we take his umbrella. How's that for service eh? Thanks Sam.

Love the place! Excellent location, and lovely atmosphere. Except for one thing, that led to an almost sleepless night. We had a twin double with excellent view of the sky and ventilation, but highly vulnerable to mosquitoes attack. We woke up in the middle of night with more than a dozen mosquitoes trapped within the mosquito net, and more than a dozen 'souvenirs' left by our fellow 'mates'. The net gotta be really tucked in to reduce the opportunity of mozzies to slip in.

Great place!! The host and the owner are very nice and hard workers, they care about their guests. There are always other backpackers in the common area to talk to and watch a movie. Tea, coffee and internet are free! Small but really cosy!!

Nice and welcoming Staff, which helps out in every needs. We stayed 4 Nights in a Double with shared Bath for 35 ringitt/night. Yes, you can here Steps on the floor and from other Rooms and also sometimes the crying loud Music from the passing Tricycles, but hey, for southeastasia it was defenitly quiet! :) The WIFI worked really well, also upstairs in the Room. There´s a TV and DVD-Player in the Common-Area, free Tea/Coffee and a Fridge for use! DIY Laundry 8,-/load, bikes for 5,-!

The hostel was in an excellent location in chinatown, however there were no locks on the doors or lockers, which was frustrating as we were warned at check in about bags snatching being common but we couldnt leave our valuables anywhere. The toilets and showers were clean but outside. mosquito nets were provided in the rooms but had big holes in.

Jalan Jalan is a best place for staying in Melaka. This hostel has an incredible character, climate and atmosphere. They have wi-fi, tea and coffe for free, and warm water in shower. And people/staff - the best!
