I have been in many hostels around the world. Jazz has all that you need for a Good price (NYC prices). The location is not "perfect" because you have to take a subway to visit the places, but the subway station is pretty close, so its not a problem. The cleanliness of the room its great, but the toilets and showers not so good, buts ok. Maybe was unluck. I'll stay back certainly.

Oh, and another thing - bathrooms are SCARY and if you're a female on the 5th floor looking for a room to shower in - good luck! You'll have to shower with the men. Also a bunch of smoking serbians sharing the room - not great. A bad experience overall.

Weird hostel, so quiet and completely lacking any ambiance. the "common room" looked like an abandoned cafeteria. Location was decent, close to metro. Next time ill try and plan ahead and stay in one of the other hostels. Bed was also pretty uncomfortable. Fairly clean but male washroom was 3 floors up, a bit annoying.

When I arrived there were two separate people complaining about different issues which didn't help. I asked the reception for the WiFi password which he said I didn't need one, though you did. When I get to the room, it's dark and dingy and my bed looks like the sheets haven't been changed. Bearing in mind, I am 5`3, I couldn't even sit up straight and there was a rug next to me that smelt of recent sick. Bathrooms=like a school, peeling paint etc but ok. Wouldn't go back.

Great location, only a short walk from the subway. I felt very safe traveling as a single woman to and from the hostel late at night.

BAD, BAD, BAD! ONLY go for the location-which is just about the only redemptive feature of this dire place. The staff, being male, WILL try to hit on you-or hump you upstairs on the balcony- not appreciated, and very unprofessional. Or being female, will scowl at you and refuse to give you any access to WIFI, and behave in an aggressive way. The place is dirty as hell, awful atmosphere, and if you live on the 4th or 5th floor - good luck dragging all your luggage up those stairs - NO lift!

When I arrived I had to realize, that the "Free Wi-fi" doesn't work in the room. You have to go to the common area and even there the signal wasn't that good. The rooms and especially the bathrooms were not clean at all and always too cold or overheated. The bed was rather uncomfortable. It should be said too, that the free breakfast only lasts from 6am-8am so it's just for people that get up early. The location is amazing though, but that is the only positive aspect. Wouldn't stay there again.

The common area is quieter than the sleeping quarters. The constant banging of entrance doors, the room was pretty hot, the shower area was dirty. The bunk beds were unsafe. It wobbles whenever I climb to get to my assigned bed.

The location was very central, possibly the only highlight about the stay. The staff was particularly hostile and uninviting. The fact that you had to give a valid ID to borrow a towel summarised the character of the hostile.

I did not like all extra fees besides the daily rate (false impression to be cheaper). I did not like paying four dollars to keep bags at janitor's room. It's not a party hostel - staff tries but the place is structured as a regular hotel, it feels too impersonal. I did like how clean it was, sheets were fine, location suitable and neighborhood ok. Next time I'll look for another place in NYC. PS. Many brazilians staying and one at staff.

Good location. Helpfull staff. Only problem. The locker in my room was broken. No where to hook my lock on the locker. I for sure will use this hostel again and recommend the Jazz in the park to my friends.

The wi-fi is poor in some places and they don't have bathrooms in all floors.

During your trip to NYC, if you go to this hostel only for sleeping and taking a shower you should be okay. It is not for honeymoon.

Very disappointing hostel for a traveller. Breakfast finishing at 8.15, no cooking or fridge facilities as well as no food or beveridge kept in room meant that you had to buy take out every meal. No sure about their reasons though, citing New York health regulations which was not apparent in any other hostel in New York i went to. Limited bathroom and shower facilities which is extremely annoying during rush hour. And top it off the staff were joyless and unhappy most of the time.

I disliked because there are not restrooms for women and men on the same floor. In my personal point of view it was so uncomfortable to go to another floor at midnight.
