On a night in New York with blizzard conditions - this was a welcoming place to stay.

Barebones room. Just a bed and the size of a closet. The cleaning crew came in while I was showering and left the door wide open with a male cleaning attendant walking in and out (I am a woman) and the shower curtain barely covers anything. Then when I was brushing my teeth they were apparently bleach everywhere right beside me in the sink. Checked us in under wrong name and wrong room. Came up asking for more money. Key didn't work, so she gave us master key. Good thing we aren't thieves.

The room smelled like cigarettes. Terribly disgusting. The bathrooms were not terrible, but were not very clean. Noisy rooms, and we had to pay more than what we were told by HostelWorld. At least it was a place to stay.

ended up canceling but they were cool about it

The double room was like a prison cell and the bedding was dirty. The mattress was covered in plastic, the radiator was uncontrollably hot and leaking. Sone of the staff were ok and one was very unhelpful. The bathrooms were dirty and the whole place was just completely run down.

Good service but for the price the place lacks value.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!!! DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOSTEL even for free. I was in private room with my girlfriend and this is my opinion: 1. Wi-Fi does not exist at all. 2.All rooms are like in prison, very very very small about 2*3 ft. 3. Rooms are falling apart because they rent some very OLD building, and they did not invest any money to renew it. 4. Windows are not closing properly, so if you are staying during the winter it will probably bee very cold. PRISON, BELIVE ME

I had booked to stay two nights at this hostel, but then cancelled my second night. Overall, the staff were friendly, the rooms were relatively tidy, and the bathrooms adequate. Getting past little problems like there being no elevators and the dining room being small (at least you get a free breakfast), I got BED BUGS on my first night. Their bathrooms as well were average, but not the best. But, if you can get past all this, it's a pretty decent place for the price.

Short summary: Avoid it if possible but if you have to stay there you won`t have any inconveniences. + good location + close to metro + 24h Deli next door - overpriced - charge for bag-storage after chekout (even for a couple of hours) - just one bathroom on each floor (for abut 15 people) - old and small beds

This hostel was pretty crappy overall. Very noisy, not enought seating for breakfast, every door in the whole place slams shut because the have massive springs on the back of each door . The only thing is it is relatively cheap compared to other NY hostels. Oh yeah and the beds are designed for people 5 feet tall and under! OK for a night but dont expect a good sleep.

Pretty good hostel, got a nice room with "living room" inside, no elevator 5 floors up, huge minus. Only one bathroom per floor, one toilet (in the 5th floor at least), the showers pretty poor as well, no where to hang the tower or place some soap and stuff. Staff was ok. Not good not bad. Not so far from the subway, and maybe if I'd stay there few more nights i'd get to see something special...

The Staff were good and helpful. The appearance of the hostel inside was very drab with concrete steps and heavy metal doors which, although ensuring security, banged heavily in the night when anyone passed through, keeping you awake! It was a long way to drag a suitcase up to the third floor - through the metal doors (it reminded you of being in a prison). The metal sink wrack in the Ladies' toilets was hanging off the wall! The Ladies was on the next floor up for use in the night.

The staff was great but the only place to use the wifi was in the breakfast room that was always sticky and smelly (not a great place for computers). The beds were fine but the bathroom sinks were poorly designed and therefore never remained clean.

Thanks for your kind words. Our staff tries to provide great service to each guest. We have free wi-fi that is available not only in the cafe, but in our basement lounge as well. This gives much space for guest to spread out, plus it provides an excellent opportunity for you to meet fellow travelers. Thanks again and we hope to see you again.

Friends everywhere: just don´t go there. It will save you a lot of trouble and bad moments. Everything is bad, from top to bottom. I have been in quite many, this is the worst and -above all- expensive. Take my advice, go somewhere else.

The hostel is clean and the rooms are pretty big. One thing that I didn't approve with is that after checking out we couldn't leave our bags anywhere for free, they charged $4 a bag for this. After paying like $1770, I think this is not done... I've been to a lot of hostels all over the world and never, ever did they charge me for this... So that is something they should think about...

The hostel common areas were really clean and comfortable and also the rooms and bathrooms. There were only a few things that i would change. The bunk beds are metal and the stairs where a little loose so they made a big noise when i got up and down. Also i would add some paper towels or something similar in the bathrooms and some place to put the soap, shampoo and that stuff when you get in the shower. But besides that, everything was great. I would stay there again.

Thank you for your comment. We our always looking for suggestions. We are in the process of adding some fixtures to the bath areas as well ensure all the beds are tight and less squeaky. So on your next that should be taken care of. Thanks again and safe travels.

Our room was like a dungeon. The door handle falls off, the door is poorly Locked, the bedroom curtains are see-through, frequently no toilet paper, the feminine product waste bin has no lids and the toilets consequently smell, the doors have no stopper so bang ALL night loudly, 2 toilets and 3 showers for 2 floors of females, shower curtain doesn't cover the doorway so others can see you naked, mould on shower curtains, bedroom lights don't work when it's hot. Stay elsewhere if you can!
