I liked this hostel so much better than I expected to based on its hostelworld rating at the time of booking. It was cheap and fun and covered all of the bases. The Pros: * awesome staff * fun outings (dinners, comedy show, club passes, movies) * the usual prereqs: free breakfast, clean, wifi, good location, good vibe Cons: * wifi needs more bandwith & only works in the common area; * no cooking facilities; * maids are loud in the AM; * the styrofoam cups and plates need to go!!!

The bed sheets were so dirty! Stains everywhere even a blood stain!! For the price I paid it's really really bad. The hostel in the lounge looks nice and it has also a bar but the cleanliness is the first thing at all. I wouldn't recommend it. Lucky I've been there one night only!

Unfriendly and dictatorial on check in .eg (You shall do this you shall do that.) Bumpy Wire innerspring mattress has given me lower back problems even though I placed extra blankets on it. Very late breakfast 9-11 am. I had to walk up 5 floors crisscrossing the building to do so . A dull lifeless place with no attempt to make it friendly ,lively or homely. $75 was tpo much for a dorm bed ,even in new york ! especially for this place

Heating was not working right in middel of december and nothing was done about it after asking personal. other than that it was a good place to stay, close to subway.

The staff at the reception and at the bar was very unmotivated. They seemed very annoyed every time you asked them something, even they were just sitting around watching TV or doing something on their laptop. There is one girl who is very nice (working on Wednesday evening I think). The heating system only starts when it gets below 0 degrees celsius outside, so we ended up sleeping with a hat, scarf and two pullovers.

The location was good and it was easy to get there with the subway. The room was not nice. The heating did not properly, at first it was too hot, then in the middle of the night it was cold. All the doors in the hostel were really noisy, and my mattress was covered with some kind of plastic that was making annoying noise everytime you moved. I suppose this hostel would be okay if I would come in drunk every night.

Really nice atmosphere at the hostel with friendly staff. You won\'t be cold in this hostel if the weather is bad. Breakfast is typical but you\'ll get full. Bathroom is close or away, depends on which side your room is and if you are female/male. Most importantly clean. Yeah some stuff are old but that\'s NY. Oh and location. Excelent. You get out of the hostel, turn right, walk 20-30 meters, central park before your eyes. Subway 3 blocks away. Nice and safe neighborhood all around. Would go again? Defi

The Staff was always very friendly and helpful, the location was very good. The only thing that i didnt like was, that it was very noisy, because the doors slammed very loud.

Stayed in private room, room reeked of smoke for duration of stay. Radiators in rooms are prone to sudden outbursts of noise during the night which did not particularly phase me but woke my partner several times during each night of our stay. Otherwise the location is great and everything is functional, the bathrooms aren't the greatest you will find in a hostel these days but they do the job. Staff were always friendly and very helpful.

I was almost put off staying here after reading some of the bad reviews but in reality it\'s not that bad. It depends on what you\'re looking for. If you\'re content with a no-frills hostel where you can meet others then this is pretty standard in my experience and certainly not deserving of some of the bad reviews on here. It could be a bit more atmospheric, cheaper and the staff could be friendlier but the free breakfast, proximity to subway station and other travellers make it a good choice.

I really appreciated my time at this hostel. Was my first time in a hostel and I had an amazing experience! The staff are amazing, super helpful and friendly! The rooms and bathrooms were clean all the time. Subway is pretty close, you have guides available in the hostel, and also they organize some tours if you don\'t know yet what to do in NY! Everything was amazing and I am really thankfull for the such good time that I had there.

Jazz on the Park is great for what it is. Subway a couple of minutes walk so perfect for exploring NYC. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only criticism is the noise during the night. Doors were constantly banging (very loudly) which meant I didn't get one good nights sleep over the 4 nights I stayed.

The computers were down and that somehow inhibited us from being given keys. The guy at the front desk was totally bummed out and stressed, and he let it show. He couldn\'t even open our room with the old fashioned key so we had to be given another one. NO towels offered either. Waited outside in the cold for 15 minutes before he popped up to let me back into the hotel after I left to buy some water from a corner store at 2 am. No welcoming words or apologies. Hospitality- Philadelphia style.

In general the hostel is ok, nothing amazing or special about the place. The only good things about it was the location, nice quite place next to central park a wand getting the sub way (3 blocks away) Beds arent very good but if your going to be out most of the day then its no problem (Somwhere to sleep huh!)
