I would personally recommend this place. Everything was awesome, lot of fun, nice people and staff, not far away from Central park and subway.

I enjoyed my stay in the company of tourists from all over the world. It was a bit not easy to take heavy luggage to 5th floor through narrow wooden stairs

This is a good hostel. The sataff is great. The only thing is that its a little bit far away from the city. Harlem is not the best zone, of course, but its not bad at all. The subway is 3 blocks away from the hostel and in 20 minutes you are un Time Sqare. The bathrooms are clean but there are not so many. The only big big problem that I found it was the madress it was reaaaally bad but after walking NYC all day long you wont notice it! Have fun and enjoy NYC, dont miss MoMA!!!!!!

the neighborhood looked quite dangerous to me at night, but nobody robbed us or anything so I quess its not so bad after all :) they have a huge LCD TV and keys to the rooms are electronic, which is quite fancy for the hostel. its 15 minutes to downtown manhattan by subway, which is 3 blocks from hostel. As everyone is writing, free wifi wasnt working for us neither :P but cant agree with comments about staff, it was helpful and effective as far as I can say. showers could be more clean. overall...More

Staff are brilliant and very helpful. Interestinglocation and an easy ride in to downtown. Dorms are a decent size and a good kitchen.

Found the toilets disgusting at times. The bathrooms had hair on the floor most of the days.

Terrible AC - I was sweating in my bed and the window wouldn't open. My room didn't lock at all. Wireless internet didn't work. At least the staff was friendly.

1st of all, i did not get my 8bed room, but a 12 one instead. Well, not a big deal as long i have a bed to rest my body. The building is rather old. But cleanliness wise, its clean. I believe the housekeeping was done everyday, so by the time you get back, most likely someone who just checked in was on your bed, thinking it was empty. Shower and toilet was clean during my stay. 12 bed room size was just ok, but lack power points. Its kind of difficult when someone who charge their cellphon...More

location was absolutely fine. trains run the whole night and it was a nice area as well (for those who concern about the safety). the "breakfirst" means cerials, which is fine, if you get up early... and they have the cheapest rates in nyc i think. i would definately stay again!!

Noisy but friendly hostel, staff are a little disinterested but very efficient. Hostel is very clean and secure and it is in a great location. Do not listen to your pre-conceptions, Harlem is great.
