I was told that this was a "family hostel" as opposed to an "international" hostel. I think that needs to be explained before someone stays there so they know what they are getting. The location is in a residential apartment complex and the directions weren't very clear. The staff waa unhelpful. the atmosphere was pleasant enough but the rooms are too small to fit even two bunk beds
Serious lack of directions which resulted in us lugging our big bags around for nearly an hour. Problems getting into the block without a keycard and also getting past security. When we finally found the hostel there was an unpaid bill stuck to the door. Staff were unwelcoming with mess everywhere. The twin room is actually a bunk bed. We even had to make our own beds! Dirt everywhere and they were very strict with aircon. Awful. The 'staff' are the only ones staying there. Avoid!!!!!!!
Good part: the guests are mainly from China who speak english! This is scarce in Guanghzou so this is a place where you can meet local people and you can talk to them. The downside is the poor directions provided. So if you are a western tourist without chinese knowlegdge you are better off following this: find the stone gate/archway with 2 lions statue on each side bween ikea and Jianguo htl. On the opposite side there is a bus terminal entr. They are in the building #6(house no 279) apt 501
Very friendly and helpful staff! Unfortunatelly not that clean
