Joys is a great change of pace from other more dorm like hostels. Then beautiful old home setting makes it feel as though you are staying in a family members guest room. The cozy fire and friendly staff add to this experience. Joy's feels like a home away from home, and overall was an excellent experience that I would recommended to any friend.

It was the worst hostel I have ever stayed. Unclean, a mess every where, bed in a verand.....

A fantastic hostel. We stayed there for the Kinsale 7's rugby tournament and were delighted we did! Joy and her staff were great, very welcoming and accommodating. The hostel itself is bursting with both character and practicality and location wise - it is perfect - far enough to be quiet but close enough to the centre to be back in 2 minutes (and you pass a top take away on the way!). Quite simply - if I'm ever back in Kinsale, whether with family or friends, I'll be back at Joys.

Joys is a quirky place to stay right in the heart of Kinsale. We stayed in room 3 and the room was clean and bed comfortable. The house has wooden stairs and floor boards, so can be noisy with people coming and going and you can hear everything through the house, but that is my only criticism.

overall a decent place to stay. a bit tired (paint peeling, not super clean), but cozy and with plenty of character. en suite with the rooms was a plus. kitchen equipment in the room is a bit odd (weird food smells in the bedroom is never a good thing), but all in all a decent place to stay. location was good - central but quiet. both the owner and the person who works there were nice and welcoming.

This hostel was in a lovely, safe (feeling) location, but it was just so unclean. The beds especially.

This place was slightly run down. Handy having a kitchenette in the room, the kitchen downstairs if fairly poor. The young spanish couple that were in charge at the time were lovely and as helpful as they could be.

We have spent a good time there. Lot of facilities are included in the room: glasses, plates, cutlery even a fridge. There is a fireplace which makes the living room cosy. We were welcome by the owner, a lovely women who has given us some good advice about the places to visit in Kinsale.

Everything was fine at the hostel but there were a few little oddities... no toaster was very strange and while the attic room was pretty cool, there was no heating in it at all. It was a very cold night and luckily the member of staff was able to dig up an electric heater for us. The attic room is pretty cool though, the wifi just reached :D
