Spectacularly clean. The reviews that it at times reminds you of a boutique hotel are spot-on, but I honestly think that detracts from a hostel-like atmosphere. The first floor is a bar/restaurant with great tap selections and excellent food (albeit a little expensive), but because it's open to the public and is just as likely to be filled with locals as hostel guests you can't feel at ease there, can't bring your own booze down, etc.

Your KEX is just awesome. Keep it like this! You're already have an excellent standards, but you might consider placing a full figure mirror (at least in female rooms). That's a good thing to have, when girls are dressing up for a party :)

The hostel is located in a very good position to have a view of the mountains. The cafeteria in the building is also excellent and good for social activities.

The hostel was in a great location-- the bus to and from the airport picked me up/dropped me off right there. I was able to walk to many tourist attractions as well. The staff was friendly and the lobby was really nice. They locked up my bags for me and gave me advice on what to see. My only complaint is that I arrived there at 8 am very tired and was unable to check in until 2 pm. Breakfast was also a bit expensive (1200 ISK) but it was all you can eat, so it kind of makes sense.

In my opinion this hostel has better reviews then should be. This place is good for party not for a sleep after long journey. I stayed there 3 nights and it was like sleeping in the bar with live music. Plus don't be surprise why the price is so cheap- you have to pay for bed linens and breakfast!!! That is the hidden cost! Place is beautiful and cool but I will not stay there anymore cause I had to rest after my stay - lack of sleep!

The bunk beds were very squeaky, made lots of noise at night. Need to be oiled! But everything else was great.

Great place to stay in Reykjavik. Good crowd, things going on, full kitchen, good location, knowledgable staff. Breakfast could've been cheaper, so we ate elsewhere.

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed in! It's quirky and clean with a great atmosphere. The bar/restaurant downstairs serves tasty and reasonably-priced breakfast, lunch and dinner, which locals often come in for as well. Rooms are spacious and clean and there are plenty of bathroom facilities, along with a big well-stocked kitchen. Close to the centre of town, everything within walking distance. Staff are helpful and friendly and all the tours pick you up from right outside.

Jag vet inte vad som menas med "tecken". Förmodligen något i översättningen som gör att det blir obegripligt. Hälsningar från Gustaf

KEK was a sublime hostel to stay at. The atmosphere was incredible from the very nice and well-designed lobby and hangout area to the recycled wooden deck, to the bar, and the friendly communal kitchens. Food's a little pricey for those on a serious budget, but delicious, and it's the only place that I have stayed at that offers anything fresh for breakfast (the porridge and the warm bread). I highly recommend this hostel and will be staying again if I ever find myself in Reykjavik.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever been to - clean, great amenities, helpful staff, perfect location, amazing vibe and ambiance, so much character. I almost went to Reykjavik Downtown Hostel but I have to say Kex is by far better!! Best hotel I've stayed at in Europe.

Kex is a wonderful place to stay. The spirit of the stylish hostel makes travelling easier than ever before. The reception offers any kind of help at any time. Rooms and bathrooms offer enough space and a high level of security through a door card system. The kitchens are social rooms and are fully equipment, even with free food. The lobby - living room & bar - is a cool place with a beautiful view and concerts from time to time. Kex is close to everything you need. Check it out and check in!

Very chilled hostel with friendly staff. Nice location as just away from main busy area but still really close to everything. Beds were comfy and had own lamp, showers were great and never too long a wait and wifi reached rooms also. Would definitely stay again.
