We loved our stay at Kex! The place was safe, clean, and a unique atmosphere. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. Everything was within walking distance, including the shops and fitness center. Thanks!

All in all my experience at KEX was nothing short of wonderful. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, keeping the facilities as clean as they could for the amount of traffic that hostel receives. This is not the hostel for a traveler looking for peace and quiet as it is a bustling social scene located right outside of downtown Reyjavik. I made amazing friends staying at KEX. The bar/restaurant located downstairs is one of the best in town.

Cannot recommend Kex highly enough! Everything was fantastic. I booked a 10 bed dorm because that was in my budget and was VERY happily surprised to wind up in a 6 bed based on availability. The staff were so kind and helpful. It was an EXCELLENT place as a solo traveller - easy to make friends (especially at breakfast) - loads of other solo travelers. The breakfast was delicious and an amazing value for the price. The rooms & bathrooms were clean. The location was great. Even locals hang here!

The hostel is very hip, with a restaurant and bar in the building with live music some nights. Location is great, close to the Main Street. Breakfast and bedding is extra. A really big hostel so not great for solo travelers.

I woke up late for my shuttle to the airport but one of the staff members was very helpful and called the company for me. She was also extremely accommodating because I was in a huge rush to check out.

Well - run hostel. No complaints! Little pricey, but that's just Reykjavik!

Friendly and helpful staff. Bar/restaurant has a nice buzz without being rowdy or noisy and serves INCREDIBLE food. Free wifi much appreciated. Good value (relative to Iceland's generally high prices).

Everyone was so friendly and everything was incredibly secure! I actually drunkenly dropped my passport and they returned it. One of the best experiences of my life...would 10/10 recommend!

It was all of the regular things you would like a hostel to be: clean, safe, a good location, nice staff...but it was a lot more. It had a great aesthetic with lots of interesting artifacts, old maps, retro furniture - the decor made it enjoyable to look at as well as be at. It also had a very comfortable vibe with lots of couches and window seats with pillows and old school desks. Add a great breakfast in the morning and drinks at night in the large main room, and you have a great experience.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at.

One of the best hostels ever! The staff is super helpful and friendly; they even have a booking agent on site who has done a lot of the tours so he knows what's up. Decorated really cool and vintage-y; super cool bar and eating area; and they even have music events during the week that locals come to. You have to pay for breakfast but one of the best spreads at a hostel ever - really good homemade porridge too. It's located pretty central in Reykjavik, right by the Harpa.

As my for hostel ever, I was pretty happy with KEX hostel, the staff were all really friendly and spoke very clear English. They were helpful in recommending places to go. The bar was pretty well stocked, the food was nice and reasonably priced, the view was lovely and it is very close to the town centre. All in all, very happy.

Facilities here at Kex are quite good... Outlets next to each bed, free lockers with a deposit, and clean rooms. Bathrooms are good, with male/female community bathrooms and a few single user bathrooms. Also, the staff was very helpful and knowledgable. The only slight downside is that breakfast is not include... But having said that, they serve a great, hearty breakfast that will last through the morning. Other things worth noting- linens are not included, but are available for a fee.

THE best Hostel I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in many. The atmosphere and social environment were really what sets it apart. It's an especially good sign when locals come to a hostel to hang out at the bar, which was the case at KEX. My only critique is that there is no way to lock the lockers in the rooms; fixing this would not be difficult and would result in more satisfactory security.

Service is not as friendly or attentive as I had hoped but that is less to do with the hostel and more to do with Icelandic culture in general. The place is in a very convenient location. The hostel is also very good value for the money and I would recommend it. The dinner options are very good. If you happen to catch a day on when they have musicians, it can be very nice. The only thing that you cannot avoid in a six-person room though is people coming in at 2 AM and making a lot of noise.

One of the best hostels I've been to. A great location on the harbour with one of the best bars in the city. Good food. Friendly and helpful staff. I will be back.

There wasn't much atmosphere besides the loads of kids that were there. Breakfast looked good.. But it cost a lot. Sheets cost extra
