Super trendy hostel with great restaurant and great location. There was often a wait for the showers, but nothing too bad. Our room had a water view which was great!

The staff was very friendly, some of the friendliest I've seen in all my travels through Europe. One major issue that I found at this hostel was that the hostel was open to everyone, even people who weren't staying at the hostel. Also, the showers were a nightmare. Several times I had the water on full blast and it was DRIPPING, and it was cold! The breakfast was extremely expensive, about 9€ and you had to pay extra for linen. Overall the hostel was average/below but the staff was incredible.

Great hostel! Lot's of character and very friendly staff. Close to the centre of town and grocery shops. My only complaint was the very tiny rooms, with very little storage space for luggage and lack of lockers.

Very friendly quirky decor. But just bit noisy with doors banging, apart from that it was lovely. The view from front of hostel amazing.

Really nice hostel with a great bar that fills with locals on the right night. The food served there is good but like everything in Iceland is way way over priced.

We had a great time at Kex Hostel. Really friendly, helpful staff, and a lovely atmosphere. We had a private room, and although it was pretty basic, our bed was super comfortable, the radiator was always warm to make the room cosy, and the view from our window of Esja, was truly breathtaking. Couldn't really ask for more. Miss you Kex!!

KEX hostel was a great place. You have to buy your bed sheets but I didn't mind, it was approximately £6.00GBP and you had them for your entire stay, they even held them for us as we were going travelling for a few days. The staff were extremely helpful when booking tours and buses back to the airport. Overall, it's a really nice hostel, beer is cheap enough and food is expensive pretty much everywhere in Reykjavik. Bring your gladrags, Everyone was pretty dressed up at the weekend!

I booked a female dorm but when I got there they put me in a mixed dorm. Luckily this could be changed. The rooms are very small, not very comfy, loud (you can hear every noise coming from outside and from the corridor). There are only metal lockers, so it's very noisy when you take things out of them in the middle of the night. I usually don't have any problems sleeping, even in noisy places, but I could have better slept in a trainstation. There were constantly people rushing in and out...

Very charming place, love the lounge and bar area. The kitchen was a little dim but had everything needed to get the job done. Staff was always happy and helpful, and everything was clean. The hostel was right on the water with a beautiful view and easily walking distance to everything, a great bargain except I think the 1000 isk charge for bedding was a bit much considering the base price of a room. The breakfast, on the other hand, was definitely worth the price, I enjoyed it every morning!

Excellent hostel in a great location at a great price (we stayed in a private room). Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and particularly enjoyed using the communal lounge/bar/restaurant area. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Reykjavik.

This hostel is amazing. The staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is great. The kitchens on the upper floors could use a bit more lighting and be a little more organised.

We had a terrific stay at KEX. The atmosphere was great, and we made new friends from all over the world. Good breakfast, and dinner, in a common area with real character. Also got to experience a jazz band live, which was great. Everybody seemed at home here.
