Great atmosphere & decor. Impressed with the cleanliness of the shared bathroom facilities. We had a lot of dust bunnies under our bed, which was kind of gross when we dropped something and then had to retrieve it.

What a great place! Good place to stay in Reykjavik!

Exceptionally cool hostel with friendly staff and excellent amenities

Only negative comment I can think of is that the showers desperately need more pressure. Everything else pretty much rank as 'awesome or better'. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

Showers took about 15 minutes to warm up. Majority of staff seemed annoyed at the fact they were working. Lockers and security were good. Kitchen was good. Little expensive. Bar beneath gives good atmosphere and great views from most rooms.

This place needs to decide it if it's a locals hangout or a hostel. Kicking out a hostel guest of the bar at midnight yet still serving locals at the bar is ridiculous. Also the girl who checked us in acted like our smallest request was a huge burden. No real common area to meet other travelers and no hostel activities to get bring people together. Honestly just be a bar/music/ local events spot and stop being a hostel. That being said breakfast and location were great

This hostel is the absolute bees knees. Great atmosphere, up to date facilities and really cool decor. Had some great nights in the kitchen areas on both the 3rd and 4th floors, lovely bar and smoking area, and consistently clean bathrooms - always a great sign.

Great location and facilities Welcoming staff Pricey breakfast!

I've stayed at many hostels over the years, KEX is in my top 3. Excellent attention to detail, everything from the decor to check-in to the meals. Staff was very helpful and kind. Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion for the convenience and the variety of things to choose from. Our stay here was excellent and very comfortable - felt like a home away from home!

Good location Kitchen was not great, old with lack of appliances Beds were comfortable but you must pay extra for bedding We were lucky to be upgraded to a 6 bed dorm from 16 bed Showers were bad, they would go hot and cold and water dribbled out. Also, they are locker room style open showers with no doors which seemed odd, although there are a couple of single bathroom/showers. Easy to meet people and go out

An awesome hostel! Friendly staff. Amazing food. Clean comfortable beds, rooms and communal areas. Showers not great but hot and does the job!

This is a really social hostel. The kitchen had an oven, and the supermarket around the corner is well supplied for making easy meals. The restaurant/bar/breakfast area downstairs is good too. I had breakfast there one day, it's worth it if you like to eat lots and there are so many choices. Close to the main street and it's very helpful that Kex can book tours for you (cheaper than some other companies) and they advertise other companies too. I will return and stay again for sure

Hard to walk to other locations with so much ice on sidewalks. Better rating for summer stays. Staff really is grumpy, I didn't really believe it, but it's true. One was nice. Other folk there are fine.

Good location, great common area/bar. Bathrooms need some love. Wet floors and low pressure shower heads.

The showers could be cleaner (mold, etc.) but otherwise, everything is great. The beds are super comfortable, the food is amazing and the whole atmosphere is really cool and fun to hang out in. I liked it quite a bit and when I come back, I'd definitely stay here again. So unless showers are a deal breaker for you, I highly recommend it.

Despite the hostel having an amazing location, I found the staff to be very unapproachable and unfriendly. Also the late check in is ridiculous considering that most flights get in around 6 AM. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone traveling solo. This hostel is great for someone traveling in a group . On the positive side, the location is amazing, the breakfast is great, and the bar inside has a lovely atmosphere.

Two night stop over. good place to stay. Iceland is amazing so really spent little time inside to be honest. Staff were OK, had little interaction though really.

Great hostel with an amazing ambience in the main common/bar area. Very warming away from the arctic conditions outside! Avoid Room 320 however, quite possibly the squeakiest bed I've ever slept in.

KEX has a great reputation - but it's not living up to it. It's to big to be a really cozy and sociable place, bathrooms and kitchen are too small and not too clean. If it was cheaper for a bed in the dorm, it would be good value. But there are plenty more options which offer better beds, kitchen and bathrooms for the same orice or less in Reykjavik. Best thing about KEX is the bar and during Airwaves the concerts there.

Wonderful stay, only negative would be creaky metal beds that wake you even with ear plugs (female 6 bed dorm), would definatly return to Kex, perfection in a hostle.
