It was great!! Definitely my most expensive trip ever haha but worth it. The staff were great and the bedrooms and the bathroom clean. The breakfast was very good as well. Nothing bad to say about KEX hostel. I would definitely recommend it and also will go back to KEX if and when I come back to Iceland. XOXO

Awesome staff that was super friendly and helpful, and a great atmosphere. A MUST-STAY for Reykjavik, surely the best hostel in town! Conveniently located, superb atmosphere, and quality staff!

An excellent stay. This is such an amazing hostel to meet people and see the town, seeing as it is so close to everything. There is a good kitchen, clean rooms and bathrooms and lots of common areas. There was nothing the staff could not help me with - from booking buses to advice about reykjavik etc. Highly recommended.

Had a great time and the staff were more than helpful. Only con was the price of beer at the bar was more expensive than most other bars in town.

let me be frank. i have never been to a hostel that did not manage a bar or restaurant area to cater to its guests. serving beer for around 700-1000 isk is steep. especially when you realize you can walk down the block and buy pints for 500. if they can make money on it surely kex can as well. also, cooping people up in the kitchen if they choose to bring their own drinks or food is, for a hostel, crass. the common area in kex is wonderful, but being made to buy 950 pints to drink there?

Everything was really great at Kex. My only problem is the wii being down 2 whole days (on separate occasions) out of my 5 day stay. Other than that, the bathrooms are checked regularly, showers were spotless. The food at the bar & restaurant downstairs was really great. At a hostel, I usually expect frozen pizza and panini's. Extraordinary! Fix the wifi permanently and I'll be back every time in Reykjavik!

We had an absolutely terrific stay at KEX! The decor is second to none; with so much attention to detail that you notice something new and quirky every day you spend there! The staff were extremely helpful in accommodating our difficulties with our group booking (there were 9 of us and we'd all booked under different names!) and also helped us to book a Northern Lights Tour and transport to the airport. We used the very well equipped kitchen to cook meals in the evening. LOVE THIS PLACE!

This place was fabulous!! So easy to make friends here and such a fun place to hang out. It was right near all the shops and bars downtown but there were nights when we were perfectly content just hanging out there! Really cool bar, could have been cheaper but whatever. The place was super clean and nice and had cool decor. Would absolutely go back!!

Kex was very clean, kitchen had everything needed, the staff did anything in their power to help you out, and both the dorms and private rooms were quiet and big enough to be comfortable. Despite the bar downstairs having great food, drinks and live music, it was hard to meet travellers other than in communal kitchens. Since the city is tiny you can walk anywhere from the hostel, so great location. I don't have a complaint about the hostel, and definitely cheap in terms of iceland prices!

Definately one of the best hostels I've stayed in. One staff member even lent me his hiking boots to go climb the mountain close by! They happily help you out with everything at reception. Good kitchen and really comfy beds. Great location. Loved the decor and all the books. Only negative thing I can think of is that you have to pay a 1000 kronur, or about 6 euro for your linen and towel, which they don't mention online. It's just a once off fee for your entire stay though
