A bit too expensive for what you are getting; staff gets stressed out very easily; you have to pay a deposit for cutlery; don't ask for cutlery during check in, because staff is really busy then; showers are hot, but not much water coming out; beds are quite comfortable; rooms get really warm if you leave the small heaters on for a while; the cafe next door serves great breakfast and coffee; you can buy some food at the minishop next to the cafe; easy to get to Abel Tasman from there

We arrived late but were still welcomed and fed, even though the restaurant was closed. These guys really go the extra mile. We were so impressed, we chose to go back for a second stay. Thank you all at Kaiteriteri Lodge

i think the bad atmosphere had an effect on how i viewed everything. unfortunately any charm that this hostel could of once had is gone as a result of the masses passing through on the kiwi experience bus. 50 or 60 new people every night, they don't even need to try and impress you (or extend common courtesy apparently) as they are guaranteed custom. we were not greeted in a friendly manor, the staff spoke to us like we were children, cramped kitchen, cramped dorms, not very fresh smelling
