Amazingly they are deserving of thier 99% rating. A fairly important concideration is that I'd highly reccomend having a car. Other than the world class surfing spot across the road, (complete with photographers and professional surfers) there isn't much within walking distance. The owners were super generous about giving me rides to the grocery store, but really you want a car. it was also a 4 hour bus ride to and 3 hr bus ride from.
Peaceful home by the beach. The owners, Bernie and Maria, live nearby and are some of the most friendly people in the world, checking on your needs everyday and treating you like family. Spotless-clean wooden floors and Japanese-style doors. Fully equipped kitchen, washer, and dryer. A maid cleans the floors and bathrooms everyday. Several showers, including a Tahitian shower. Calm outside hang-out areas with a table, chairs, grill, plants, grass, and a hammock. Only place I'll stay at in Oahu.
It was a real pleasure to stay at Kalani Private Lodging. Maria and Bernie run an excellent lodging in a wonderful location. They were very hospitable and low-key while managing to keep the place impeccably clean and well managed. Look forward to staying there again on my next trip.

Not the average backpackers hostel, but a mansion with shared rooms. Super clean and tidy. Fully equipped kitchen.
