This hostel was not as central as you'd think and despite what they advertise online about the cost of a tuk tuk, it is at least 200Rs. However, the walk to town is nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It may serve them well to get to know some of their recommended walks a little better and they really need mosquito nets. Other than that it is clean, friendly and a good place for lone travellers to meet people.Great value for money and a lovely family to spend time with!

I hate to be overly judgmental, but no fan, no mosquito nets. This is Sri Lanka. Even in Kandy, where it does get cool-ish at night both are a must. The staff seemingly had no idea who I was when I got there and were fighting with each other starting at 730 in morning. For one night, I'm sure it is fine for most people, but I wouldn't stay here again. The guesthouse 26D, which was much closer to Kandy Town, was the best guest house I've stayed in over the last 5 months.

It's a little bit out of town. But it's very quiet at night. The whole hostel is very clean. And the kitchen has everything for me to cook my own meals. The price is good for solo travelers.

Is it a big house with a very nice athmosphere a but away from the center tuktuk 200 rp , i ahd a very pleasant stay, free wifi, no private lockers ( like everywhere in Sri Lanka) but you can ask the owner to keep your vaulables, i left in my room something very important , and asked if they could send it to their hostel in Clombo, this matter was deal with very good, i picked my things they were very good on doing this. therefore they are good profesionals .

Walking distance from town centre. A nice area downstairs to chill out with a beer. The woman who works there is helpful too. Unlike most places I stayed in Sri Lanka, which are guesthouses, this is a traditional hostel making it ideal for lone travellers as it is a great place to meet people. A 2 minute walk from a supermarket & restaurants too.

The place is rather a guesthouse than a hostel, dorms are clean, the owner is friendly and helpful, she can arrange local tuk tuk drivers that wont drive you for "tourist" prices. Close to the bus station and tooth temple.

Lovely hostel. Great owner. Top value for money. Bit of a walk to the attractions, but gets you some great views on the walk in to town. WiFi reception works in all rooms. Beds in hostel rooms a touch small and lack of security may be of concern to the taller or more cautious backpackers amongst us. Don't usually write reviews, that I am is on a request from the owner, who would do the same for me.

The Mala was very helpful during our stay. Generally house is big, with nice, big rooms, the living room is beautiful. It is only 5-10 min by tuk tuk to Kandy centre.
