Kang Traveler's Lodge was my favorite place to stay in Malaysia. The large "living room" has tables, couches, lots of power outlets, and free wifi and is a great place to meet fellow travelers. Kang also runs a transport service and organizes tours so booking excursions is easy and convenient from the hostel. Check out the jungle bar when you go. They have a fire pit and great prices on drinks.

I stayed in a private room which was very shabby and I would at least have expected to have a plug socket in my room. The showers were very basic and not that clean

The rooms are bare bones. 4 walls and a bed. The bathrooms are only okay, but there's a lot of them so that really helps. The common area is pretty good, with lots plugs, free wifi, and an open concept that makes it easy to meet people. Despite previous comments saying the place had poor staff, we found the woman at the front desk to be extremely helpful and pleasant. She actually was pretty awesome!

Have mixed feelings about Kang's Lodge. Upon arrival were told they were full and that first night of our reservation had been moved to their 'hotel' instead. Whats the point of having a reservation?? Hotel was awful - cold, mildew on the beds, horrible bathroom. Checked out next day and returned to Lodge, where they tried to give us a shared bathroom room (booking was for ensuite). Eventually got sorted but took a while, wasting time when we could have been out trekking! Otherwise Lodge was ok.

on the whole a great hostel, except loos and showers could do with a re-vamp, and the dam cats crying out at night, and the cat lady feeding them did not help. but great location and cool bar

Great common area, makes the place very sociable. The free wi fi is great. A few hairs found on our bed sheets, not so great. The shared bathroom facilities with hot showers are impressive.

A solid hostel, nothing spectacular but simple and a good place to meet people with a nice outdoor bar and evening bonfire. Watch out for the unhelpful and overly prickly Malay receptionist.

The hostel is fine, byt the trips they contract and the transfers are ruled by nks travel, and they are much worse than the ones handled by han of the same price, so check that out.

Below average... Not really clean, no toilet paper, tiny rooms with thin separators that let through any noise...

Overall its a normal hostel. But the staff is quite unfriendly. What annoyed me a bit, too was the intention of the hostel to make extra money with everything. For example when you bring your own drinks to the bar, they charge you. Or the Trips. I think they are hopefully not bad, but VERY expensive (for Malaysia) But if you need a cheap place to stay and are happy with drinking your beer in the city, this hostel works fine for you.

Very welcoming and embracing atmosphere. It is truly an international village where there is ample space n opportunities for backpackers to interact. .. Though i wish that there is something done to the tv room... the couches need changing, so are the ones in the courtyard. however changing to all-wood, durable n easily cleaned...
