We have stayed in this hostel for 2 nights and we were not really satisfied because we book a private room which turned out to be worse than to sleep in a dorm... But still the staff is nice and they are trying to help their guestes with bookings. All in all we wouldn´t really recommend this place!

Nice staff, nice communal area.Very lousy infrastructure. We preferred to stink then to take a shower, which was always filthy. Bed bugs.

Needs a refurb! It's obvious that Kang doesn't have much competition in the area, as it's pretty tired, and they're not making any effort to smarten it up. Grim bathrooms and damp bedding.

Correct location and good value for money but personally disappointed a bit by the staff, I had booked a 3 beds room but they had put someone inside, so suggested 2 of us stay in a room and the 3rd one (me) sleeps on a matress on the floor in the living room, without offering compensation (I had to pay for the matress), althought they gave us discound the 2nd night. Besides that the location is very good because it's right in the middle and they have parking if you rent a car.

rooms are small and cute. there\'s a terrace and a \"jungle bar\" which are perfect to sit together and talk with ppl you just got to know. they organize nice tours and the stuff is friendly.

the hostel said that they didnt get our booking from hostel world for a dorm so my friends got a private room and i had to go into the tv room where they put a mattress down. This was an ok solution, though not ideal. However we had met some people and all wanted to stay in the same hostel. The second night they got me a dorm room and this was much better. There is a great communal area and the private room my friends were in was fine.

Kang Traveler's Lodge was my favorite place to stay in Malaysia. The large "living room" has tables, couches, lots of power outlets, and free wifi and is a great place to meet fellow travelers. Kang also runs a transport service and organizes tours so booking excursions is easy and convenient from the hostel. Check out the jungle bar when you go. They have a fire pit and great prices on drinks.

I stayed in a private room which was very shabby and I would at least have expected to have a plug socket in my room. The showers were very basic and not that clean

The rooms are bare bones. 4 walls and a bed. The bathrooms are only okay, but there's a lot of them so that really helps. The common area is pretty good, with lots plugs, free wifi, and an open concept that makes it easy to meet people. Despite previous comments saying the place had poor staff, we found the woman at the front desk to be extremely helpful and pleasant. She actually was pretty awesome!

Have mixed feelings about Kang's Lodge. Upon arrival were told they were full and that first night of our reservation had been moved to their 'hotel' instead. Whats the point of having a reservation?? Hotel was awful - cold, mildew on the beds, horrible bathroom. Checked out next day and returned to Lodge, where they tried to give us a shared bathroom room (booking was for ensuite). Eventually got sorted but took a while, wasting time when we could have been out trekking! Otherwise Lodge was ok.

on the whole a great hostel, except loos and showers could do with a re-vamp, and the dam cats crying out at night, and the cat lady feeding them did not help. but great location and cool bar

Great common area, makes the place very sociable. The free wi fi is great. A few hairs found on our bed sheets, not so great. The shared bathroom facilities with hot showers are impressive.
