Evan at Kangaroo Hotel is one of the most relaxed, helpful hosts we've had the pleasure of staying with so far. There's nothing pushy about the service, they're not trying to sell you anything extra or make a quick dollar out of you they just want you to be comfortable and happy. The pool was perfect, the A/C units icy cold in the 30c+ heat and the town was a comfortable walk away. Kangaroo is a slice of heaven in what can be a busy town. We liked it so much we're going back.

The owners are cool dudes

Kangaroo was outside of town and a long walk. I loved this! You can call a cab for $2 in to town and you don't have to be right in the thick of it. It is close to the beach and a great breakfast spot. The vibe was awesome and staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the private rooms and it was great! The pool is cool and refreshing. I will definitely stay here if I come to Jaco again!

Great place. 3 minute walk to the beach. It's a bit off the main strip which was nice, and only a 1 or 2 dollar taxi into town. Evan and Sebastian were super helpful with getting anything we needed. Very chill atmosphere, nice pool, super friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Good advices on what you do and where to go in Jaco. The inconvenient : the chiken master in front of the hostel who will wake up you in the morning ;-)

Loved this hostel! Very friendly staff, an open and engaging atmosphere and clientele, and A/C and pool available on the horrifyingly humid days. Very close walk to the beach, a bit of a walk from Jaco downtown. Great for the price given the expense of Jaco and a wonderful time indeed. Highly recommended!

A first rate experience. Located a block off the beach on the south end of town, it is a 15 minute walk to the main strip but away from the craziness of Jaco. The staff are a knowledgeable, helpful, and relaxed bunch - everything you would want in a hostel staff. Take a surf lesson with Rodrigo if you can. The central area is a fantastic place to hang out, with an excellent bar and a nice pool. This place is the epitome of a laid back beach hostel. Can't recommend it enough.

Located just outside of Jaco town. So it should be quieter. But there is a rooster farm across from the hostel so expect constant crowing from 4:30am until evening. This was disrupting to me as I was not used to the noise. The room itself was very nice. Large with shower and air con unit. And hot water. The pool was broken when I was there not sure they were getting it fixed. They said they were but didn't seem too interested. Kitchen facilities were also available.
