We had a really great stay at Kangaroo Hostel! Francesca really made us feel the best that we have had in all of Costa Rica. She booked us a Canopy tour that was a blast. I really appreciated all the advice she gave us about moving from and to Jaco. The hotel is placed in a quiet place 1 block from the beach. We also really enjoyed the pool. I would definitly recommend this place!

Staff was great! Upon arrival received a very detailed introduction to jaco with many tips and suggestions for things to do, places to eat and things to watch out for. Outside of town (a $2) taxii ride so not so crowded or loud but just a half block from the beach.

A young social traveler's paradise. The staff was the best staff I have run into in my stays in hostels. They interact with their guests and take you to local places that won't show up in any travel guide. Furthermore, they will not lead you astray into the dicier parts of Jaco. In short, a trustworthy and fun staff that care about their guests in a hostel that is not top of the line but has many of the amenities backpackers would enjoy. Great stay and hope to be back there soon.

Really dirty room, not what you expect for this price. The pool looked green as well. No breakfast.

The hostels cleanliness was pretty poor, but the hotel staff more than made up for it! They were so helpfully and friendly. This place is great for someone travelling on a budget. Outdoor living space was awesome! Would highly recommend staying at kangaroo.

We only stayed one night in Jaco before taking the water taxi to Montezuma, but would stay in this cute little hostel again. Not a lot of restaurant/shopping options nearby, but bicycles are included for cycling around, and the beach is a short walk away. Breakfast next door cheap and yummy. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was very loud at 2:30 in the morning so recommend earplugs or headphones with music. Free wifi. Great deal for the cost.

Nice place if you want to stay close to the beach but far if you wanna be close to the main street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good and there's a nice pool. Sadly the Internet wasn't working and the fridge in the kitchen looks disgusting. Besides that, all good!

Loved being so close to the south end of the beach - a little walk to the main strip for shopping etc. A nice chill communal kitchen area, seating, and pool. Yoga with Gita was awesome!

We really enjoyed our time here. The staff is really nice and you have the feeling of being invited to their home. Special thanks for Francesca for nice Christmas eve dinner! The place is not in the center, but if you come to Jaco for surf, the location is good. The walk to city is about 15min, which isn't bad either. The rooms upstairs are good. You have a change for yoga also on the mornings. I really liked the yoga teacher and can warmly recommend it! Johanna from Finland

This is a small hostel just outside of Jaco's main area, it's a 15 min walk or a 5 min bike ride (the hostel lets you use their bikes for free). The owner is extremely nice and hospitable. The guest rooms are clean and they have hot showers. There is a common area and a place to cook and store food and a nice, clean, pool. I had an issue with one of the tours they helped me book and when I told the owner she promptly called them and complained for me and got it straightened out. Def stay here
