It's impossible to fault the Karibu Guest House: quite simply it feels like a 'home from home', and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are lovely, the gardens are tranquil and the staff are extraordinarily service-focused without being fawning. The food is wonderful, and the spectacular breakfasts deserve a special mention (particularly the wholegrain bread, which is such a welcome change from the dull white, texture-free bread that is standard fare for the Great Lakes Region). Bravo!
We stayed at Karibu on arrival and prior to departure from Entebbe (hence two reviews). The guest house will organise free transport to and from the airport. It is located a little out of town close to the Presidential Palace on a hill overlooking Lake Victoria (but still easily accessible via boda boda (motorbike taxi). Mozzies are a problem in Entebbe, but the precautions are good. The garden also has great birdlife - look out in particular for the wonderful plantain eaters (a type of turaco).
