Beautiful Hostel in good city center location (not if you want beach). Good breakfast, there is WiFi,TV and PC. Caution: bring a towel. No AC in room. No laundry (must have it done in an outside center-expensive!).Can be noisy. However:It was what I needed,I liked it and can totally recommend.

The guy working evenings was really nice. The lobby area is considerably more modern than the room. The room was basic but you wouldn't want anything more. It was clean. It's a 5 min walk to the tube station is good. The kitchen facilities were good but the oven temperamental. The wifi doesn't work widespread which was particularly annoying. Breakfast was a good Brazilian breakfast. Information about rio wasnt very forthcoming

We were there during carnival so it was very busy and crowded. The facilities are clean, the breakfast was yummy, the rooms and common areas are nicely decorated and fairly new. My only complaint is the lack of air con. The rooms and common areas (especially the computer room, kitchen, and living room) were always really hot. also, the wifi didn't work well so there was almost always a long wait for the 2 computers.

Kariok hostel was just great! Fantastic location (2 mins walk to Gloria subway station), perfectly clean and the staff were wonderful! Really loved the way the hostel was decorated too. We were there during Carnival, and obviously the prices were a bit high, which was understandable. We've been travelling for over 1 year now, and this is one of the best hostels that we've stayed in...we would highly recommend it to anyone :)

I arrived around midnight. The hostel was easy to find but the receptionist didn't understand a word of english.. I payed the room in advance, but they asked me at least 3 times if I'll pay cash or with creditcard... It was really difficult to explain, that I already payed, as they didn't understand english. It was a little mess.. But at least it was clean and secure. And they called a taxi for me in the morning.

The staff were all wonderful - very hospitable and helpful. We were there for reveillon and met lots of new friends at the hostel. The Internet was not functioning properly for most of the stay, but it was out of the hostels control to be honest. The breakfast and kitchen facilities were great. There were also strong fans in the rooms without a/c which made the eat bearable. Rooms also had their own fridge for drinks.

It was really nice to stay there. There is also a beach close. Of course it is a bit far from the famous beaches (ipanema or copacabana), but therefore it is perfect to see the center of Rio de Janeiro. Moreover it is perfect to go by feet to Lapa on a friday's night. It wasnt dangerous to go there;) I can just recommend it and would go there again. The building is amazing. and also the people working there are really okay.
