Nice hostel, a little frustrating it only has 2 bathrooms - I had to wait on numerous occasions for a shower etc.

This hostel was very basic but comforatble and clean. The breakfast were really good with lots of fresh fruit, and its only a 5 minute walk to impanema beach. Very central to the Impanema area. Staff were very helpful, and showers were hot! A little frustrating that wifi hardly worked.

Arriving at the hostel, staff were prompt, friendly and helpful. The room seemed small, but everything was clean, the AC worked very well. The location was great, a minute from the beach and other fun places in Ipanema. That was very pleasant. I'd recommend the Karisma Hostel to anyone and we would very happily stay there again!

Our room didn't have air conditioner. Just two bathrooms for the hostel. (about 20 beds) There's no bar and the common areas are uncomfortable. Staff only speaks Portuguese.

Karisma is an excellent place to stay. The location is superb, being only 3 blocks from the beach, and in an area where it's east to meet other travellers. The staff are especially helpful and friendly, whether it's your first time in Rio or you're an old hand. The breakfast was great, there being lots of fruit, as well as the expected bread, coffee and jam. Thanks Karisma, for making me feel right at home in one of the world's most exciting cities.

DON´T STAY THERE!! It was a nightmare, my 2friends and I booked there for a night and we want to run out of there at midnight: bed bugs all over the place!!The boy who was in charge poorly managed the situation, around 3am the owner comes just the get money, we had to moved to the living room and try to sleep for a bit there since the room was full of bugs, we left as soon as the sun came out and try to get our money back our some type of compensation and nothing, they didn´t care what so ever

security: is pretty good, there's someone at reception almost all the time during day and at night you only get in by ringing the bell. there's enough lockers in the rooms. location: is excellent, just a few blocks from ipanema and copa cabana beach, plenty of cheap eats, juice stands and a few bars around, although hopping on a bus or cab and heading out to lapa for nightlife is defo worth it. atmosphere: no real hang out area apart from small reception, wouldn't stay there to socialise.

we reserved at this place for 1 night and then extended our stay 4 more nights without hostelworld thinking it would be a nice experience... the staff is really more than horrible... the night shift receptionist who worked during our stay of 5 nights in total is completely an out of mind person with great anger and stress and he kept waking up every night in the middle of night all of us in the room with his loud noise and screams turning lights on being rude to customers for nontrue reasons..

This hostel was in a great location, 5 mins walking distance to pretty much everything. We had a private room which meant we could lock the door and store everything in the lockers. The staff were pleasant although we didn't stay very long to see how their advice was. The Internet was good. On the downside it was dirty, we used our own sheets and very small throughout with only one bathroom. There wasn't much atmosphere or space to create one. The lockers were wooden and falling apart.

The sheets were dirty and disgusting. There was no lock on the door, so everyone could enter the room. The bath was ok. The location is great and I think that this is the main factor that made us choose this hostel.

I booked a mixed room 4 beds....The room was too small, could just be for 1 person, at the ground floor just a door from the street. The toilet just outside the room was used from everybody!,from the staff, from people coming from outside, was not just for guests use. There was a second entrance to the room, just on the street, I didn't feel so safe. A part of the staff was unhelpful.

very dirt, staff without energy, after 10 pm no noise and the staff ask you more money that really should to city tour and other tours.

Very average hostel with very simple rooms. Lockers have no locks and the hostel doesn't have any for sale?? Way to miss an opportunity. Located in a little alley with only hostels so a good place to potentially meet backpackers outside. But not anything "great".

On arriving we got told we were going to be in different rooms to what we booked. The place is tiny with no communal areas so dorms arent ideal. It is in a good location close to the beach but the staff werent particularly helpful. Wouldnt recommend.

Very nice location, and a clean hostel! The staff is also friendly. But I think it is too expensive- at least a breakfast and a free locker could be included in the price.
