Given that it is part of HI, I was very surprised by the standard of cleanliness. The shared bathrooms were filthy and one of the rooms I stayed in had a bogey smeared down the wall. The location is great if you want to stay near the airport (you can see the runway from the roof) but not so good if you want to go to Thamel (25 NPR by public bus to Ratna Park). The staff were amazing and are amongst the nicest people I have ever met. They helped me immensely are really, really nice people!

Average Nepal level accommodation with a good price. Take a flashlight (there are scheduled electricity breaks in Nepal) and a sleeping liner with you (400-500 Rs in Thamel). A bit side from the touristic area - 20-30 min by taxi (250-300 Rs) or 30 min by bus (15 Rs) but close to the airport. Probably because of the location there aren't currently so many people staying so if you come alone it is not so easy to get to know people. The staff is very helpful.

85% Commision for Busticket and Taxi. In the Room with own Bathroom, used toiletpaper bin filld up with used shitpaper. Every information for Trekking was a lie and made us problems. Room key was first not available. Kitchen not for tourist use. Stored luggage was dammaged. Not a standard for an international youth hostel.
