The courtyard and the roof (don't forget to visit it) were both lovely and full of character. Great for relaxing. The rooms were full with lovely traditional Chinese furniture. The mattresses were a little hard but typical of Chinese hotels. The breakfast was really quite nice. They served fresh fruit, Madelines, toast, jam, butter, muffins, yoghurt, tea, coffee, orange and grapefruit juice and probably other things that I've forgotten. The staff are very helpful.

It was a wonderful peaceful stay in Kellys Courtyard. Thank you for Bob's superb service. The Hostel lays inside a typical Beijing Hutong.Bo It's a bit hidden, but when you find it, it's like a small oasis inside of all the hustle and bustle. It's absolutly quiet. Rooms have nice chinese touch. Bob was very helpful in all issues. He helped with trip, organized a driver to the wall and paid attention on our luggage for three days, while we were in Shanghai. We felt very comfortable.

Kelly's is located in an alley of an alley. Although china is pretty safe, I wouldn't have wanted to walk back to the hotel by myself at night. Also caution if you get list easily. Otherwise staff there are great. Super helpful.

The place is absolutely stunning and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Kelly's was by far the best place I stayed at throughout China, and well worth the couple extra bucks. If you're strapped for cash and are looking at cheaper options, I'd definitely recommend you try to spend at LEAST one night here either way, you won't be disappointed!

If I could rate this higher for character, atmosphere and value for money I really would. It's such a lovely place, and really makes the most of the traditional lane house. Stayoing there honestly feels more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. Bob really looked after me and my mum, and we had a fantastic time.

This is a great little hotel, very conveniently located between two metro stations and within easy walking distance to restaurants and other shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In Bob's absence John, who speaks very good English, supplied us with all the information we needed, drawing maps of the metro lines and stations to get us to our various destinations, as well as arranging transport for our visit to the great wall. The western-style buffet breakfast was basic but adequate.

The hosts were the best you could ask for. Knowledgable, helpful and very accommodating. The property is a little hard to find so make sure to give the cab driver the directions and phone number and you will have no problems. Very convienient location for the subway, buses and just walking around. We walked back from the Forbidden City in about 15 minutes. Our hosts John and Kelly helped us make arrangements to go to The Great Wall at Jinshanling which was the high point of our trip to China.

Our family stayed at Kelly's over Easter amd were delighted with our choice. A real character property with such friendly people and a fabulous location. The owner was extremely helpful -- always ensuring to guide us with written directions to our choice of activities each day. He even made suggestions to maximize the use of our time in Beijing. Also helpful were restaurant suggestions (again complete with directions) -- great suggestion for Peking duck!

We had a wonderful stay at Kelly's last week! It's off the main road and was a little hard to find initially, but the second cab driver we hailed was able to get us there. The hostel has a lot of character, is warm and welcoming and the rooms are clean, nicely decorated and efficient. The staff is awesome, they were so friendly and helpful it was like having a personal concierge attending to all our needs! We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit to Beijing!

Absolutely amazing! First of all, the service was incredible. John was always available to answer any questions that I had or to help me plan my days. He was so kind and welcoming I felt at home from the moment that I arrived. Secondly, the courtyard itself is beautiful. It has been fully renovated to provide for a comfortable experience. The rooms are comfortable and the courtyard is a great place for the morning breakfast or just to sit and plan your day. This hotel is a great value!

It was very nice staying there, the place is so beautiful that it becomes one of the attractions of your trip. The staff was really helpful and kind, we wouldn't have been able to go around Beijing without their help. The only bad thing is the location, it was very hard to find it when we first arrived.

Great place to stay! Kelly's Courtyard is in a very convenient location with major sites only a short subway ride away. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Good breakfast featuring probably the best coffee in Beijing!

Had a fantastic stay at Kelly's. The atmosphere is relaxing and, despite the (fairly central) location, was very quiet and peaceful. It is only a few minutes walk from 2 different metro stops allowing you to travel around the city with ease; the hotel is, for example, only two stops from Tianamen Square. As mentioned in other reviews, Bob and the staff were very helpful, assisting in arranging trips and suggesting activities. Will definitely stay here again and would recommend highly to all.
