You get what you pay for. The rooms are sparse and a little moldy, and the beds are hard as rock. On the plus side the food they serve downstairs is good and the staff is really friendly and helpful. I never felt unsafe, and often left my things locked in my room without an issue. Most importantly the location right across from Khao San Road makes this the perfect place to crash. If you don't expect much then this is perfect for the price.

I had a single room and although I was very tired I couldnt stay more than two hours in this room. You couldnt breath because it was so hot, dirty and mouldy.... At least the owner was friendly and gave me my money back.

you get what you pay for at Rainbow hostel, room was extremely basic, not dirty but could definitely do with a lick of paint! plus very small bathroom... however excellent wifi and really good AC which is pretty important in sweaty Bangkok!

Hardest bed I've ever payed to sleep on. There isn't really a good hangout area to meet other travelers, which is essential while traveling alone. Other than that 350 baht for a private room on khaosan road is a great price

The fan rooms are absolutely roasting; you need to be fairly out of it to survive a night here!

Due to its location, it is the ideal place if you want to pass out drunk at 4am, sleep for a few hours and do it again. Most of the rooms face onto a middle eastern nightclub that thumps on until the early hours. The rooms are basic, beds are hard and bathrooms slightly grim. There are no lockers in the rooms but there are downstairs, people in dorms share one room key. You can't argue with the price but If you want a night's sleep, fork out 100 baht more somewhere else.

This place was horrendous. The room was disgusting with holes in the walls, visible dirt everywhere, and furniture that was falling apart. Our toilet didn't even work. The staff gave us half of our money back and we left to stay at another place.

I really liked this place. There is no denying it was very basic, but its cheap and the location is very good. The staff are lovely and very friendly, and what makes this place even better is the indian restaurant downstairs which is frankly the best curry i have ever had.

This is a nice hostel, well located and the staff are very nice, helpful and speak very good English. The Indian food downstairs is really nice and quite cheap. There is only one issue, DO NOT stay in a room without A/C in the summer. I did and ended up suffering from fairly serious dehydration. Pay the extra and get an A/C room or stay in the dorms.

Very dirty, didn't even want to sleep on the bed, I used a sleeping bag. The room was similar to a prison cell, no windows and tiny, no aircon just a small fan so was very hot all the time. Booked a double room but were given two singles, this was okay for us as friends but unusual! Good thing was right off of Khao San Road so good location.

Rooms not so clean, but the staff was really friendly and gave all the support we needed. Excellent location on Khaosan Road, close to all the restaurants, pubs and shops we were looking for in Bangkok.

Don't expect comfort. Really small and hot room. But worth the price. Great location if you want to stay in the middle of the "mess" of Khaosan Rd. Bars, clubs, and all the excentricities that Thaland can offer you 5 min from the Hostel. All tourism agencies where you can easily buy your bus/train ticket for your next destination in Thailand just beside the Hostel.
