Mixed reception when I arrived but after completing the registration paper, staff seems friendlier. As it is a youth hostel there is some noises but with good earplugs you can manage. Otherwise nice atmosphere, you can meet a lot of people easily. Blackhead is the location... 20 minutes from the nearest subway station (Kuramae).

This hostel really needs sound proofing. I could hear a very loud drunk (often swearing) well into the early hours of the morning coming from the main living room area. Conversations in neighbouring rooms could also be heard. Although the hostel applies a strict no-noise after 10pm code there is rarely staff on the premise at night to ensure this is put into effect.

PROS: Location was OK, same as all other hostels in Asakusa. ¥100 convieneince store only 50m away, good for eating and shopping on a budget. Some decent cheap bars and resteruants close by. CONS: Tokyo smile is an offshoot of the annex, so reception and facilities not in same building. Not enough ablution facilities, beds were very uncomfortable. Not much character or fun WI FI weak and unrel

Overall good experience, cheaper than most rooming, clean and problem free. Only issues were small: a bit out of the way and my private single had random pieces of furniture left in it like a closet and rather than a single bed a bunk bed taking up space.

The man who worked on the reception was super nice! He was very friendly, great smile, and gave me useful information. The fourth floor rooms are a little noisy... the walls could of been thicker.
