1- They should have towel rental. I counted on it and had to rush out the next morning to buy a towel. If not, they should at least let you know in advance. 2- I was charged an extra fee for paying with credit card. Also another thing they should tell you in advance.

Thankyou for taking the time to give us feedback. We normally offer towel rental however we occasionally run out when people accidently leave with them. I have since purchased some more. We pass on the bank fees for credit card transactions just like all the hostels in Kings Cross do. There is always the option to pay the next day with cash or quickly run up the street and get some cash out as we are very flexible. Also there are some great things which we also don't mention, e.g. the free BBQ's, free nachos, free toasted sandwhiches we offer etc Happy travels, Pete

Good enough place, breakfast was simple. Dorm room was big, but lacking lockers. Very expensive though for what you get, but everything in Sydney is hardly worth the money.

Thankyour for your review. Breakfast it FREE and includes fresh bread picked up that day, several different spreads (peanut butter, jam etc). Three brands of cerials, light and full cream milk, butter, tea, coffee and great company. In my opinion that is great for a Free Breakfast. We also offer free lockers in all our dorms so I am a little confused by the second comment. Happy travels, Pete

When checking in we got a room that was probably the dirtiest we've ever seen. Empty bottles, trash and dust lying all over the floor. When we asked for the staff to vacuum the room, they promised to do it "first thing tomorrow". Didn't happen. Eventually they did try to clean it on the third day of our stay. Furthermore, the room was stinking and cockroaches really liked to stroll around there. The women's bathroom was flooded throughout our stay, the staff just "couldn't do anything about it".

Thankyou for your review. Every room is cleaned daily and vacumed every three days. We normally get really great feedback about the quality of our cleaners who spend at least 10 hours a day cleaning the hostel. It may be that you had some messy guests in your room and if so apologies for that. Happy travels. Pete

Really didn't enjoy my stay, first of all after booking for 2 people we were told was not possible to be in same room even though both rooms had free beds and told not possible to change! Lady on reception fairly unfriendly although will was fairly helpful! Only one toilet for an entire landing of 12 people and very unclean along with the showers! Only good thing really about this hostel is location although went and found cheaper accomodation close to the station

Thank you for you review. It is always appreciated to have critical comments so that it can give us a chance to improve and become better where possible. I apologise that you felt you didn’t enjoy your stay for the 3 nights you and your friend were here. This particular period of time that you both check in, we were fully booked and the hostel was very busy. To clarify, your booking was correct and as you booked. The ‘spare’ bed in your room would have been for another guest who had also made booking for that same day. If we were not full, or if it were possible we would have kindly moved you and your friend into the same dorm, but unfortunately we were unable to at this particular time. We have an excellent cleaning team who clean the entire hostel every morning. Sometimes when we are at full capacity and have a high turnaround of guests, communal areas can soon become unclean/ ‘messy’ again. We have taken your comment on board and now proceed with additional cleaning checks during the afternoon and night to maintain a clean hostel for all our guests. We wish you happy travels, and hope you enjoy Sydney and the rest of Australia.

Kingscross backpackers was a great experience during my travels, i arrived to options of FREE Nachos with a movie, Killer pool, and various club entries with your first drink free! The hostel is well kept, kitchen facilities are amongst the cleanest ive seen and the staff are extremely helpful and very friendly, i ended up extending my stay in Kingscross backpakers as i was made to feel so welcome by both staff and fellow backpackers. Every day offers a different fun activity! RECOMMEND!

I had a great time, amazing people great staff.. the location was great close to the bars 3 min but you no noise. The entertainment was great really good organized... I really do recommend this hostel..

One bathroom for 8 rooms, staff obviously make an effort to clean, well situated however if you like kings cross. Very Uninspiring hostel compared to others, good for a place to sleep but no more.

You stated that the hostel was very “uninspiring”. We have a newly refurbished basement with a pool table, comfy couches, and a huge plasma screen for all guests to enjoy the latest films and TV series. On the ground floor lots of kitchen amenities, along with plenty of information about Sydney, tours, maps and what’s on if interested, with areas to sit and socialise. A free bookshelf stacked with all types of books. An entertainment board with daily events for all guests to involve themselves in, another big TV with Foxtel to watch the news or reality programs. On the roof is a vast space to relax and enjoy the weather, complete with tables and benches, several large beanbags, huge BBQ, trendy L-shaped couch with pillows and of course decorated with thousands of fairy lights that create the most inspiring atmosphere at night. I apologise that you felt for the 1 night you stayed here the hostel didn’t have a good atmosphere. We do have an excellent cleaning team who reside at the hostel and take great pride in their jobs, so thank you for commenting, although on the 2 floors that we have, no floor has 8 rooms or more than. We wish you happy travels, and hope you enjoy Sydney and the rest of Australia.

Great character, really good location but the room was so filthy. CAKE ON THE WALL. old food in the fridge and exploding beer in the freezer. so much rubbish on the floor around the beds, dirty sheets on the bed (we had to ask for clean ones). we only stayed one night, but cleaner came to change the bin at 8am while we were still in bed (didnt knock) thanks god for your awesome location and nice rooftop.

The hostel is awesome! Had such a great time with such nice people! Deffiently going back! The carpet at the room was dirty. But the showers and bathrooms were very clean! Go there! And have a great time!

I would definitely stay again! The hostel is in a great location, near the party but just far enough not to be too loud and really central to the city. Everything was really clean, but my favorite part was the rooftop! Great to just chill up there and the staff put on a free BBQ and even took us out that night! Also, good breakfast in the morning, not just dry toast! :)

Unfriendly Stuff.... .... Many bugs (cockroaches) in room. Disgusting kitchen. Rooms are VERY dirty. Bathroom taps broken. No toilet paper !!!!.... VERY BAD HOSTEL / BACKPACKERS!!! Never ever!!!!! Other backpackers were young and stupid-drug-smoking people! There are better backpackers close to Kings Cross! Who gave "Kings Cross backpackers" that good rating? We don`t know! Must be a fake!!!

Quite dirty, especially kitchen public shelves, but anyway a good hostel to have fun.... great common spaces and lots of crazy people to meet :)
