Great spot for getting to the airport and city. Good kitchens, fairly sociable spot too. Would stay here again.

I read some reviews before going to this hostel that the staff wasn't nice. I disagree I found them quite helpful. I called early in in the morning, to tell them I will wait at the airport for their free shuttle. I called before the reception was open and left a message. Unfortunately no one listened to the messages, so the shuttle never came at 9. I called them back and explained my situation and the immediately sent the shuttle to collect me.

I struck gold. Ordinarily, I stay at hotels, but chose hostels this time.. I did have my reservation; however, as soon as one arrives at Kiwi BaseCamp, one immediately realises this is a friendly, clean and easy going hostel. Vicki and Laura were perfect on reception. I could not have wished for a comfortable and pleasant stay. In addition, in Chris the owner, I made a friend for life. Thanks guys!!!

Not clean, rude, pot smoking and loud music playing visitors. Totally didn't feel at home.

Bed sheets were not clean, shower drains were blocked, there were no locks on the bathroom doors and rates were overpriced for the level of accomadation provided! Very disappointing!

Kiwi Basecamp is fine. Just fine. The room we stayed in was clean, but very basic. The door didn't always lock properly. It has been recently freshened up, but there were little things that seemed to be overlooked, like replacing the broken toilet paper holder and soap dispenser in the upstairs toilet and putting a latch on one of the showers upstairs. I wasn't overawed by the staff, the receptionist seemed frosty and unapproachable. The breakfast bread is not worth the hype.

Nice place, friendly staff, a bit of walk from the center of town and the road it's on can be a bit loud at night.

The staff were not interested in helping me, more interested in being away from reception n smoking weed, I was watching a film in the tv room, staff came in turned on the lights and talked through the film, I paid for a 4 bed dorm and got put in a 6.

Staff could be a little more friendly, but overall it was a good stay. It's pretty small and in an old house, which I thought gave it a good atmosphere. It felt like a home almost, and that can be nice when traveling.

Decent hostel. Christchurch itself isn't nearly as exciting as Queenstown or other places on the South Island, but sometimes you have to spend a night there, and this hostel isn't a bad choice. The airport pickup was really nice.

Overall a very solid hostel, but my only complaint would be the extremely squeaky beds in my room. I literally didnt get a wink of sleep because anytime anyone moved, the beds would give off an extremely loud squeak. Otherwise, the staff were extremely helpful. Thank you!
