Although kiwi paka was fine in most respects, I had a terrible sleep (no sleep actually) because I could feel the springs poking through the mattress on my bed. It felt like sleeping on a bed of wire. I changed beds (was in a dorm) half way through the night but that mattress was only marginally better. Otherwise bathroom/facilities etc were good.

The place was almost empty during our stay in May. We had the dorm, kitchen and hot pool for ourselves. The kitchen is quite big. Staff kindly booked our tours at the reception desk. Remenber you have to pay for the internet.

staff were really friendly and helpful. The big pitfall was the venue is approximately 2km out of town and busses don't typically do drop offs here.

Big hostel, all the services where provided. Little double rooms, just enough place for the bed. Breakfast is not worth 7dollars. Location is excellent to visit Rotorua.

Excellent hostel with a friendly staff. The only complaint we had was that the stoves in the kitchen more often than not didn't work it it was hard for several people to cook at the same time with the limited stove tops.

There was a big lack of tea towels to dry dishes, and almost none of the stove tops worked. We had one going and it took 45 minutes to get the water to a bit of a boil, we moved it to the only other stovetop that would even turn on, and water started boiling immediately.

A nice place to stay, though a bit far from the city centre.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kiwi Paka. It was clean and tiny and in a great location. Very close to town and to the lakes etc. The cabins were great value for our money. Nice and cosy and very comfortable beds and the shared bathrooms were lovely and clean. Would definitely recommend Kiwi Paka to others and would stay here again if in Rotorua.
