It doesnt have cutlery or any kitchen ware, so either you bring your oen or you rent a set for $10. That's one of the desanvanteges.
Pretty solid all around facility. Bedrooms were cozy, Kitchen/dining was spacious, and bathrooms were well kept. Only small nit pick thing was there were no even halfway decent knives in the kitchen area (small thing, I know) Definitely enjoyed my stay!
Location is good. Staff very unfriendly and everything quite expensive. Internet doesn't work.

Pretty quiet hostel, not much to do. Facilities were alright but price was rather high (but there's nothing cheap in Waitomo).
Kitchen was very dirty with not many utensils. No drinking of your own alcohol in the entire place as they have a bar which they want you to use instead
The beds are awesome :) but you realy have to know that the next Supermarkt is about 20 minutes away by bus and the food you can bye in waitomo is absolutly expensive. Stuff was friendly and kitchen and bathroom was clean!
Great hostel with a fun chalet feel. Beds were surprisingly comfortable, spacious common areas, friendly staff and a great little bar/restaurant right on the premises make it a very pleasant and convenient stay.
The hostel was in a good location. But the facilities were very poor and basic. There was no prevention put in place to stop noice and mess. The matrices have not been changed since the prehistoric period.
Toilets/showers were very dirty but room was fine. This hostel is used by tour groups so is very busy and noisy at night. The locations good and they do reasonably priced food.
